Research The department of Industrial Economics and Management
conducts research in economics, business management and organization. Matti Kaulio The department of Machine Design Product development is the overarching theme of research and can be summarized in the study of the development process, techniques and design principles as well as those related to physical phenomena. Sofia Ritzén The department of Production Engineering covers all technologies, which mainly applies engineering technical development of products and methods that have direct impact on this production. The area includes all aspects from design to production to assembly of parts into functional products, and recycling issues in the context of these disciplines. Mauro Onori 2017

Research The department of Materials Science and Engineering
The research is conducted on metallic and ceramic materials covering the whole chain Processes – Structures – Properties. The activities include experimental work as well as modeling on different length scales. Annika Borgenstam The department of Energy Technology The research spans from basic sciences such as thermodynamics and heat transfer, technologies for power, heat and cold to broad system studies addressing sustainability challenges. The research aims at efficient use of energy as well as renewable and secure energy supply focussing on innovation and next generation technologies. Björn Palm The department of Sustainable Production Development The research aims to create sustainable industries and is built on three areas: production logistics, strategic maintenance and production management. We work in close relationship with industry and do both applied and basic research. Kristina Palm 2017

Centres iCES Innovative Centre for
Embedded Systems The aim of the centre is to tackle the issues faced by those researching and working in the increasingly complex field of embedded systems today. ITRL Integrated Transport Research Lab ITRL is responding to the need for long-term multidisciplinary research cooperation to tackle the global environmental transport challenges by means of radically new and holistic technical solutions. Our approach is that seamless transport services, infra-structure, novel vehicle concepts, business models and policies, all need to be tuned and optimized in chorus. Peter Georén Martin Törngren 2017
