3 Early Childhood Linkages to Wellness Vision
The ECLW Project will connect families to preconception, infant and toddler care, physical, mental and oral health care services offered by LAUSD Wellness Centers and broad community resources to enhance child wellness and development

4 Early Childhood Linkage to Wellness Importance of Early Intervention
Over 20 percent of children in L.A. County are overweight. These children are more at risk for health and social problems. 8% of infants were born with low birth rate in Infants born weighing less than 5.5 pounds are more likely than bigger infants to experience complications with social and motor development. Parents with stress or depression are more likely to abuse their children, as are parents who don't understand the normal stages of child development. 40% percent of 3rd grade students are proficient in English Language Arts. Many factors contribute to third-grade level reading skills, including high-quality education in early childhood. At birth brain is developed to 25% of the adult brain, by age 3- 80% and by 6-90% of adult brain

Goals: Connect Families to Wellness Centers for Prenatal, Medical, Dental, Vision, Mental Health, and case management services Connect Families to a broader set of community resources to increase access to parent education, nutritional education, home visitation services, early education centers/day care facilities and other basic needs services Provide developmental screenings for early detection and educational purposes
