1 WP 2 – Valorisation of Sludge
Consortium Meeting 15 june 2017 Stockholm, Sweden

2 Table of contents WP2. TASK 2.1- Primary Treatment, DAF and Buffer Tank. WP2. TASK 2.1 a – Waste Water Characterization WP2. TASK 2.1 b – Primary treatment and pre-treatment. WP2. TASK 2.1 c – Detail design for Demo Sites. (Milestone M2) ADDITIONAL DATA REQUIRED.

3 WP2. TASK 2.1- Pre Treatment, DAF and Buffer Tank.
WP2. TASK 2.1 a – Waste Water Characterization (finished) Objetive: The objective of the characterization is to determine the quality of the water to be treated in order to propose an initial solution according to the contamination parameters. Principal Task: Analyzes for characterization of different raw water from saline waste water effluents. Conclusions: Characterization. There is not a valid relation for the results of samples as expected before. So, it will be mandatory to realize an individual study of raw water for each project.

4 WP2. TASK 2.1- Primary Treatment, DAF and Buffer Tank.
WP2. TASK 2.1 b – Primary Treatment and Pretreatment (finished) Objetives: Treatment objetives: For low BOD systems (Demo site Israel and Italy) remove of solids > 0,5 mm and removal of % of incoming COD with DAF process. For high BOD systems (Demo site Slovenia) remove of 95 % of solids for Anaerobic Digestion. Mecanical and operation objetives: Reduce of manpower for maintenance (Pumping station design, rotoscreening,...) Elimination of mecanical problems (Clogging, corrosion, ...)

5 WP2. TASK 2.1- Primary Treatment, DAF and Buffer Tank.
Principal Task: In order to determine the viability of the DAF solution some tests have been carried out with some of the samples analyzed for caracterization. Conclusions: It can be concluded that water from the agri-food industry with a high content of organic matter can be treated by DAF with good results. (31,65 % COD removal)

6 WP2. TASK 2.1- Primary Treatment, DAF and Buffer Tank.
Tasks: Treatment design: The treatment process for KOTO installation has been defined. The treatment process for ARAVA installation has been defined. The treatment process for ARCHIMEDE installation has been defined. Mecanical and operation: Materials for different salinity grades to avoid corrosion. (Plastic materials, stainless steel alloys, …) are defined. Pumps with special characteristic to avoid clogging are defined.

7 WP2. TASK 2.1- Primary Treatment, DAF and Buffer Tank.

8 WP2. TASK 2.1- Primary Treatment, DAF and Buffer Tank.

9 WP2. TASK 2.1- Primary Treatment, DAF and Buffer Tank.

10 Planned Activity: Have been finished the tasks 2.1a and task 2.1b in order to complete Deliverable 2.1. Task 2.1c . Detail design for manufacture of Demo Sites equipments. Working on it and will be finished by end of June – Milestone 2 (M12)- . After it, manufacture of equipment will begin (M13) and finish in (M15-16). Deviations for the Plan: Deliverable 2.1 it´s finished and summited. Milestone 2 (M12). Technical details for manufacturer. Not expected a delay. Will be finish by end of June.

11 MILESTONE M2 MILESTONE DESCRIPTION.
Design and dimensioning of process for Pretreatment and Primary Treatment. MEANS OF VERIFICATION. Detailed design of Pretreatment and Primary Treatment Processes. Will include detail drawings and specifications of equipments and facilities and rest of data needed for manufacture process. Arava´s equipment inside container 40´

14 MILESTONE M2 DEVIATIONS
For Arava Demo Site it will be neccesary a bigger container that the mention at first (20 ´ container). It will be necessary a 40´ container. With this one, there is a free space that can be use to install part of pretreatment equipment for RO system concerning WP3. For KOTO and Archimede Demo Sites it´s not expected any big change. ACTIONS Arava has confirmed that there is not problem with the 40´ container. Continue working on technical detail to begin manufacture period during next month. Some parts and equipments have been already order because of summer holidays period will delay our plan. Possibility to speed up with the delivery of pumping station chest for KOTO. ADDITIONAL DATA REQUIRED. Coordination with WP3 in order to study possibility to include pretreatment equipments for RO system in containers for Arava and KOTO.

15 Thanks for listening! Antonio Aparici Pol. Ind. Tejerías- C/ Villanueva, Calahorra (La Rioja) Spain
