4 9 Timothy, do your best to come to me quickly, 10 for Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.  11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry.  12 I sent Tychicus to Ephesus.  13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, and my scrolls, especially the parchments. 2 Timothy 4:9-14, 19-22

5 14 Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm
14 Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done. 15 You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message. 19 Greet Priscilla and Aquila and the household of Onesiphorus.  20 Erastus stayed in Corinth, and I left Trophimus sick in Miletus.  21 Do your best to get here before winter. Eubulus greets you, and so do Pudens, Linus, Claudia and all the brothers and sisters. 22 The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you all. 2 Timothy 4:9-14, 19-22

7 Dealing with broken relationships
Demas. Demas, because he loved this world, has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica Timothy 4:10 (Five years earlier) Our dear friend Luke, the doctor, and Demas send greetings Colossians 4:14 Alexander. Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done. You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message Timothy 4:14-15

8 Dealing with broken relationships:
Pour lots of effort into trying to reconcile. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone Romans 12:18 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. Ephesians 4:3

9 Dealing with broken relationships:
Pour lots of effort into trying to reconcile. Resist bitterness, malice and vengeance. See to it that…no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many Hebrews 12:15 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.  Ephesians 4:31 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Romans 12:17 Do not take revenge, my friends…. Romans 12:19

10 Dealing with broken relationships:
Pour lots of effort into trying to reconcile. Resist bitterness, malice and vengeance. Pray for God to “bless them;” release “justice” to God. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse Romans 12:14 Do not take revenge, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:19-21

11 Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm
Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done. 2 Timothy 4:9-22

12 It’s okay to ask for help.
Timothy, do you best to come to me quickly….Do your best to get here before winter 2 Timothy 4:9, 21 Why? Because Demas and Alexander have deserted me. My friends Crescens, Titus, Tychicus, Erastus, and Trophimus would be here but they can’t! Only Luke is with me Timothy 4:10-12, 14, 20-21

13 Dealing with broken relationships
It’s okay to ask for help. Reconciliation is a really sweet thing. Get Mark and bring him with you because he is helpful to me in my ministry Timothy 4:11 Eighteen years earlier: (John) Mark left Paul. Acts 13:13

14 If you have a Demas or Alexander in your life (or you are a Demas or Alexander!)…
...throw lots of effort into reconciliation; resist bitterness and vengeance; pray for their blessing and release justice to God! …remember that reconciliation is sweet! In the normal hard work of relationships …remind yourself that it’s okay to ask for help. …be a friend
