3 Background e-Learning approached from the SITA Corporate Social Responsibility perspective SITA CSR objectives include Positioning SITA as an industry leader in the CSR space Engaging in developmental partnerships with government and the private sector to enhance SITA’s reputation as a credible business partner Providing an opportunity for SITA and industry partners to draw on the education and skills development projects for ICT human resource requirements

Positioning of SITA’s CSR projects: A need to shift to the “Strategic CSI” quadrant Provide clear developmental and business benefits Identify and implement sustainable community oriented ICT initiatives Use ICT to influence socio-economic conditions Initiatives to equip, enable and empower the youth to become active players in the ICT space

5 SITA & Free State DBE DBE Free State Province obtained the highest pass-rate in the country for the 2016 Matric Examinations SITA through its CSR partnering with the Free State Province by establishing ICT Laboratories for Five (5) identified High Schools in the township/rural communities Key benefits include: Skills Development – Introduction to the ICT field for ICT skills with emphasis on systems development for economic competitiveness and social alleviation Unearthing Talent – A platform for learners to unleash the potential and express the talent they have in the ICT field, thereby practically contributing to the ICT skills pipeline Encouraging Innovation – A platform for learners and communities to collaborate and stimulate innovation becoming active participants on finding remedies to the country’s socio-economic challenges Stimulate Economy – An opportunity for learners and communities to be attractive to the employment market and/or to have an edge for pursuing entrepreneurship/self-employment ambitions

Candidate introduced to the curriculum Curriculum structure: Grade 08: 5-year curriculum Grade 09: 4-year curriculum Grade 10: 3-year curriculum Grade 11: 2-year curriculum Grade 12: 1-year curriculum Candidate taught Theoretical and Practical Modules Candidate assessed on Theoretical and Practical Modules. Candidate that passed both the Theoretical and Practical assessments qualify for the “Programme Certificate” Options for passed candidates: Entrepreneurship SITA Internship programme Tertiary studies in the ICT field 8

9 Community involvement
Qualified ICT Professionals in the community will be encouraged to be voluntary mentors Community members will be allowed access to the facilities as candidates

10 Progress Concept endorsed and signed-off by the Honourable MEC of Education in Free State Five (5) schools identified by the Honourable MEC Programme Steering Committee constituted Site visits to the identified schools scheduled for the 23rd, 24th, and 25th May 2017.

11 SITA Corporate Benefits
Contribution towards SITA’s Small Micro Medium Enterprise enablement, which is a corporate objective Contribute towards SITA’s corporate objectives, also towards SITA’s learning and development initiative Candidates furthering their tertiary studies will on completion form part of the SITA staff contributing towards SITA’s corporate objectives. These ICT professionals can also be made available to other parastatals and organs of state.
