2 Strategy The overall goal of the 2016 – 2018 strategy is to ensure that the association focuses on activities that give added value to the membership of EPBA The overall direction of the association will stay the same although on some issues a different emphasis is placed The new collaboration model with the NBA’s will continue and will be rolled out to other countries with the objective of having a more coherent interest representation of the portable power industry both on national and European level

Norway Russia & CIS Switzerland - Israel Balkan region 900 million inhabitants Middle-East and Africa For the Middle-East and African region, EPBA should have a reactive approach Should an issue arise in a specific country, EPBA would undertake research on a case-by-case basis on the basis of which it will be decided whether support is needed When available, the local contacts of the members can be approached to consider further action in that given country

To promote harmonised and workable legislation Harmonised across Europe: Promote public policies enabling the industry to consistently deliver sustainable power solutions, avoiding obstacles to trade Workable legislation: Build further on the industry’s experience to define public policies which are effective & efficient across all stakeholders Specific actions Monitoring legislation Providing feedback to authorities (EU, national, international) Strenghtening the links with the NBAs

To stay ahead of the discussions and to become a knowledge base on sustainability issues Specific actions Monitoring developments on sustainability regarding policy discussions and technical studies both on European and national level Developing inventory on technical information To identify and activate available resources within membership to ensure that whenever needed, members can provide internal resources

To focus on efficient and safe use of portable power products Specific actions To monitor and be involved in discussions on battery ingestion To set-up an ad-hoc technical task-force which can be contacted in case of technical issues To develop industry guidelines

To increase gradually the communication activities on selected topics Specific actions Use of position papers, industry guidelines, press releases Rework the current EPBA website as a more suitable point of entry to the portable power sector Increased focus on membership development with primary focus on the OEMs To increase our visibility through participation to congress/ conferences beyond ICBR.

12 2016 Working plan REACH The NL government will submit a proposal for harmonised classification and labelling of Cobalt Metal Based on current information, the NL will propose a very low limit (0,01%) Cobalt Development Institute has the lead in collecting industry feedback – EPBA, Recharge

Voluntary marking scheme in Nordic countries Criteria are applicable for primary and rechargeable portable batteries a revision of criteria for primary batteries will start normally in 2017 – subject to overall workload of the Nordic Swan organization. Regarding the rechargeable battery criteria, an evaluation will be conducted in October / November to decide whether a further revision Up until the new criteria are published the current version will remain valid.
