Dual Stack: A common dual stack migration strategy is to make the transition from the core to the distribution to the access layer.

Tunneling: Tunnels take IPv6 packets and encapsulate them in IPv4 packets to be sent across portions of the network that haven’t yet been upgraded to IPv6.

Major ISP TCL, Bharti, Reliance, SIFY etc in India are ready for IPv6 Services. IPv6 Penetration in India is less than 1% Many ISPs lack the network infrastructure to handle IPv6 Access Infrastructure not IPv6 ready IPv6 Penetration in Broadband /Mobile Internet is Nil Few ISP like TCL, Sify, BSNL, Bharti , TTSL have domestic peering with NIXI No IPv6 Content available in India

18 No IPv6 Request from Customers for the following reasons
ISP still provides IPv4 Address Customer not ready to upgrade infrastructure due to additional Capex Lack of Training and Awareness Need to remove legacy network and desktop assets Lack of Low Cost IPv6 Compliant CPE Equipment.

24 Action Pan For TIFR (Cont.)
In the initial phase we will have to go for Dual stack configuration. A test bed has to be configured before making anything live. Hence the immediate step should be to prepare a test bed where applications can be tested for connectivity, integrity, feasibility and most important security before putting into production.
