7. What is VORT Test ?
VORT (Vehicle On-The Road Test) is a hands-on driving examination, which is done after the completion of your driving lessons and training.
You will be examined by an accredited examiner, but not a similar person to the one who instructed you through your lessons.

8. What is CBT ?
CBT (Competency-Based Training) is a step-by-step learning process that leads to candidates gaining a license without undergoing a formal test.
This means you will be assessed progressively by your own driving instructor instead of being examined by someone unfamiliar.
You will be guided on several driving skills and manoeuvres such as starting and stopping the car, angle parking,  three point turn and etc.
After that, you will be asked to perform the manoeuvres and hands-on driving under supervision by your driving instructor.
The instructor will then record your progress towards completing the CBT and gaining your license at the end.

9. Which is Better ?
Cost
It is possible to fail a VORT test, which means you forfeit the test fee without successfully gaining a driving license. Because of this, taking multiple re-takes can prove to be an expensive path.
If you don’t feel confident undergoing a VORT test, or if you feel you might have to re-take the test more than three times, CBT is a better option.
VORT may seem to be a cheaper route at the beginning. However, the added value you could gain from CBT should also be considered.

Time
CBT does not really take much longer than a VORT test. They both involve several hours of lessons and an assessment.
The main difference is that the assessments under CBT are spread out at intervals throughout your driving lessons.

As mentioned previously, the assessments under CBT are much more spread out. This covers 30 small tasks that must be learned and performed by the student under the instructor’s assessment.
This means you can partially complete the assessment and resume on a later day.

Because you don’t have to complete all of your tests within a few hours, CBT is certainly the least stressful way towards gaining your driving license.
There is no such thing as a fail when doing a CBT. If a student could not execute a driving manoeuvre properly, the driving instructor will patiently repeat the correct procedure.
CBT can help minimize anxiety and pressure, especially if you have other distractful things ongoing in your life while trying to earn a driving license.
