2. Asian Lady Bug
Origin- The Asian lady bug is native to Asia (China, Russia, Korea, Japan).
How it arrived- It was introduced to control aphids and scale insects.
Methods of Control- Simply seal all entry points, and place screen in openings such as vents and chimneys.
The Asian lady beetle bumped out the indigenous American lady bug. They die in swarms and are a nuisance.

3. Spiny water flea Origin- Native to Europe and Asia
How it arrived- They were introduced into the great lakes by ballast water discharged from ocean-going ships.
Methods of control- Electric barriers are the only option of controlling this species.
The spiny water fleas eat zooplankton that are important to Native Fishes. They can clog eyelets of fishing rods and attach to fishing lines. This species is bumping out native fishes and can possibly ruin the fishing industry .

4. Asian grass carp Origin- it is native to Eastern Asia
How it arrived- imported for aquaculture and for phytoplankton control.
Methods of control- electric barriers are an option for containment
They cause more competition for food and change the composition of plankton. They interfere with the reproduction of other fishes and significantly alter the food web.

5. Gobi fish Origin- it is native to Eurasia
How it arrived- arrived through Ballast water
Methods of control- there is currently a pesticide being developed to control the Goby fish population
This species competes with and also preys on native species where they are. This can effect the fishing industry.

6. Zebra mussels Origin- native to Eurasia
How it arrived- it came from ballast water
Methods of Control- one method being used is manual removal using pressure washers called pipe cleaning. Also having a clean boat will help
Takes food from native species altering the food web. They also clog pipes, and ruin boats. They can affect the fishing industry.

7. Wild boar Origin- native to Eurasia
How it arrived- they were first imported as a food source and they escaped from domestication.
Methods of control- some control methods include installing fences, and using guard animal to protect livestock. Shooting, trapping, and hunting with dogs are other methods being used.
They damage plants and crops, and compete with native species. Can affect farming. They also eat different types of animal eggs.

8. Gypsy moth Origin- native to Europe
How it arrived- imported for silk production
Methods of control- there are currently chemicals being used to control this species. Mating disruption is also affective.
This organism defoliates trees. This could effect the timber industry.

9. lamprey Origin- native to the Atlantic Ocean
How it arrived- it spread into great lakes through the welland canal.
Methods of control- poison the water
Kill native fish

10. Lion fish Origin- Western pacific ocean
How it arrived- from aquarium trade
Methods of control- kill them
They kill other native fish and they have venomous spines. Could affect fishing.

11. Asian silver carp Origin- eastern Asia
How it arrived- imported for aquaculture and phytoplankton control
Methods of control- electric barriers
Feeds on large amounts of phytoplankton which has potential to cause enormous damage to native species because it is needed for larval fish. Also a competitor with other fish that rely on phytoplankton for food, bumping them out. This could affect fishing.
