John was arrested and since he could not afford a lawyer the government provided him with one. 6th Amendment (everyone gets a lawyer) This time of year Mr. Smith is celebrating Kwanza while John is preparing for Christmas. 1st Amendment (freedom to practice your religion) Hilda was arrested and her trial by jury took place soon after. 6th Amendment (speedy trial..not 7th b/c is not a civil trial) Veronica is accused of a crime. She will have to go through the same process that every U.S. citizen must go through when accused of a crime before she can be punished. 5th Amendment (due process, everyone gets same court process) Harriett and Georgia are going to hold a political debate about the war in Vietnam at the city park 1st Amendment (freedom of speech, even talking bad about the government)
