Recognizes and honors faculty members who are leaders in community-based teaching and research. CIVIC ENGAGEMENT COURSES FOR STUDENTS UM-Flint classes that provide real-world experience and connections in the community.

5 ALTERNATIVE BREAKS COMMITMENT TO SERVICE
Provides deeper learning opportunities for students, faculty and alumni through community engagement Alternative Spring Break, Service Saturdays, Alternative Summer Break COMMITMENT TO SERVICE Special recognition program for students that tracks service hours.

6 TRI-CAMPUS INITIATIVE
Connects all three University of Michigan campuses to connect, engage and learn Tri-Campus Summit, Tri-Campus ASB MY FLINT Free events to engage students in Downtown Flint ArtWalk, Taste of Downtown, Park(ing) Day

7 IMPACT CIRCLE LAND - WATER - PEOPLE
Strategic collective impact initiative to galvanize research, academic service- learning, co-curricular service projects and other university connections for implementation of the City of Flint’s Imagine Flint Master Plan, in partnership with resident leaders and local organizations. LAND - WATER - PEOPLE Fosters a better understanding of Michigan’s land use and water resources by connecting people to place. UO guides citizens, communities and organizations in land conservation, water resource protection, and trail and recreation development.

8 NEFF CENTER FOR PLACE-BASED EDUCATION LOCATED AT BEECHER HIGH SCHOOL
Mutually enriches University and northern Flint communities through place-based education, research, and student services. Examples of programs that are offered in the high school include SAT Boot Camps, UM-Flint tutoring support, UM-Flint courses, college readiness activities and much more.

9 DISCOVERING PLACE: PLACE-BASED EDUCATION (PBE) PROGRAM
Works with teachers, students, and community partners in the greater Flint area to address local issues through hands-on curriculum projects. Program offers sustained professional development for teachers and grants to local K-12 schools for PBE projects.  One of nine hubs in the statewide Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative.

10 FLINT COMMUNITY EDUCATION INITIATIVE CONNECTIONS
Builds alignments between the Community Education Initiative (CEI) coordinated by the CRIM Fitness Foundation.  Outreach hosts an AmeriCorps VISTA member who supports building connections between UM-Flint students, faculty and staff for civic engagement, co-curricular, and program alignments with partners, community members, parents and students at CEI sites in the Flint Community Schools.
