2 LASC SUMMER BUSINESS INSTITUTE
VIDEO Last summer, 20 students in 11th and 12th grades and LASC College students completed a six-week program that consisted of simulation study topics presented for real-world, hands-on entrepreneurship. During the session top educators and business professionals taught students how to form a business and convert business ideas into actual plans as well as how to deal with stress of being a business owner and manage their time. Students worked in teams to craft their new business ideas ; at the end of the six weeks, the groups pitched their proposals to judges from Google, UCLA and private business. Each group developed a PowerPoint presentation, Facebook page, and video to pitch their business concept. The winning group received an award from the judges.

3 Women & Minority Entrepreneur Leadership Conference-2015
Conference Video: The Center for Entrepreneurial Opportunities of Los Angeles Southwest College hosted its first annual WOMEN & MINORITY ENTREPRENEUR STATEWIDE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE for May 15, 2015 at LASC campus, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. The Conference featured: (A) 19 workshops on 5 Tracks •TRACK 1: SOCTE 201 Capital and Funding •TRACK 2: SOCTE MPR Marketing Trends & Branding •TRACK 3: SOCTE 219 Social Side of Leading •TRACK 4: SOCTE 220 Student in Training for Entrepreneurship •TRACK 5: SOCTE 217 Global Trade (B) 24 exhibitors (C) 3 Keynote Speakers (D) Expert Panel The Conference was attended by women, aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners. Of the 400, 100 were students from high schools in the area and college students from LASC and other local colleges. The feedback and evaluation of workshops and keynote speakers ranked over 90% satisfied and meeting expectations for all workshops combined. Landing Page

Startup Weekend Video About Startup Weekend Los Angeles Startup Weekend was a 54 hour event that brought together Los Angeles designers, developers, entrepreneurs, and experts from all domains to do amazing things. 65 individuals registered for the competition at LASC. All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and embark on a three-day frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekend culminates with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback! DAY 1: Pitch an idea, vote for your favorites, and form your team (or join someone else’s) DAY 2: Build Something Real-Put your talents to work and build a real product, team, and brand for execution in the real world or even just your portfolio. DAY 3: Launch! Put final touches on your presentation and state your case to the Judges LASC was the first college in the world to host a Startup Weekend.
