All exhibitors are encouraged to have a pre-sale buyer for each large animal project shown. 5 Eligibility All students exhibiting animal projects must participate in a mandatory “Quality Counts” online training program and submit their verification number to their FFA Advisor no later than December 1, 2017 FFA members may not miss more than two (2) FFA meetings in order to be eligible to show.

6 Group Purchasing SELECTION on October 7, 2017 (Saturday).
Deadline for the purchase of all group buy projects is September 13, 2017 (7-8) DRAWING on October 4, 2017 (Wednesday). SELECTION on October 7, 2017 (Saturday).

7 Swine Purchase price will be $250.00 Entry Fee $10.00 Barn Fee $30.00 Selection will take place on October 7, (Saturday) at the KISD Multipurpose Center on FM 2920. Drawing for selection will take place at the Klein Multipurpose Center from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. on Wednesday October 4, (Wednesday). Failure to draw at this time will result in moving to the end of the list. Viewing will be from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. Selection to begin at 8:00 a.m. Additional time will be allowed during the middle of the draw.

Entry Fee $10 Barn Fee $ 25.00 Lambs Selection will take place on October 7, 2017 (Saturday) at the KISD Multipurpose Center on FM Selection to begin at 12:00 p.m. Drawing for selection will take place at the Klein Multipurpose Center from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Wednesday October 4, 2017 (Wednesday). Failure to draw at this time will result in moving to the end of the list.

9 Goats Purchase Price $325 Entry Fee $ 10 Barn Fee $25.00
Selection will take place on October 7, 2017 (Saturday) at the KISD Multipurpose Center on FM 2920. Drawing for selection will take place at the Klein Multipurpose Center from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 4, Failure to draw at this time will result in moving to the end of the list. Viewing will begin after the completion of the lamb selection for 1 hour. Selection to begin at the end of viewing approximately 2:00 p.m.

10 Poultry All poultry to be picked up at the KISD Multipurpose Center on FM 2920. Turkeys… Turkeys will be distributed in October/November – exact date TBD. $5.00/bird Must buy at least 5 ($25.00) Entry $5.00 Chickens… Broilers will be distributed TBD $43.75 for 25 birds ($1.75 each must be ordered in 25 increments) Entry Fee $5.00 Siblings living in the same house can raise birds together Can only show Turkey HENS Broilers show 1 pen of 3 birds ALL POULTRY MUST BE KEPT AT HOME. WE DO NOT HAVE A KO POULTRY BARN Poultry will be winged banded and band must be in place on wing to show. Correct band numbers are mandatory. Keep a record of your band numbers.

12 Breeder Rabbits Classes: $5 each Sr Buck, Sr Doe Jr Buck, Jr Doe *Must have your own cage! DO NOT Sell at Auction 1-10 receive ribbons 

13 Horticulture Entry Fee $5 each Top 7 overall sell at auction- other entries may sell in Tent Sale Ea.entry must be started by Dec 1st 1 plant/division/student Must have a portfolio with at least 6 pics

14 Ornamental Classes a. Hanging Basket Class: all hanging baskets must be in a 10-inch basket. b. Terrarium Class: a glass container for growing plants. It must have at least 3 glass sides and may have an open or closed top. c. Potted Plant Class (6 inch and under): shown in a pot that is 6 inches or less *** d. Potted Plant Class (7 to 10 inch): shown in a pot 7 to 10 inches in diameter*** e. Potted Plant Class (Over 10 inches): shown in a pot larger than 10 inches in diameter****** Note: Potted plant classes will be exhibited in a non-decorative single color pot of any material (i.e. clay, plastic, ceramic, concrete) and the container may only include one species of plant. f. Bonsai Class: the art of dwarfing plants by trimming and planting in shallow containers g. Dish Garden Class: shall be in a dish type container provided by the show. The dish garden must be 75% plant material. Compliance will be determined by the judge. h. Topiary Class: practice of trimming plants into different shapes grown on wire or moss. The plant material shall encompass at least 50% of the project.

16 Floral Design Competition
Must be in/have taken Floral Design 1 Hour to Complete Arrangement at Show Grand and Reserve Champion- Auction Arrangements placing 3rd through 5th will be eligible for auction All other arrangements may be sold in the tent sale Entry $35

17 Ag Mechanics Individual/ Group Must be painted or treated properly
If not sold in auction, can advertise for sale

18 Ag Science Fair Examples include: Poster, drawings, or tri-folds
Mechanical drawings and schematics Reports Mock-ups Analysis and summary of interviews Portfolios Demonstration/presentation video tapes Information request letters Miscellaneous

Steers = Group buy will be in effect for the Klein ISD FFA Livestock & Project Show Purchased Year Prior to Exhibiting Informational Meeting Held in April Cost of Project

Pigs Sell top 31 head in the auction Lambs Sell top 12 head in the auction Goats Sell top 12 head in the auction Small Animals: Turkeys Sell top 10 head in the auction Broilers Sell top 10 pens in the auction Fryers Sell top 10 pens in the auction Horticulture Grand and Reserve plus 5 from the remaining class winners Floral Design: Grand and Reserve designs will sell in the auction Showmanship Winners: Eligible Showmanship winners will sell in the auction Student may sell up to 3 items in auction. Grand & Reserve items will sell at auction
