4 Introducing SharePoint
Experiences Enhanced… Infrastructure Compliance SharePoint Server is the preferred choice among organizations to enable rich, seamless, and productive collaboration – the kind of collaboration businesses need to keep growing, keep innovating, and keep striving for a brighter future. SharePoint Server 2016 builds on SharePoint Online as its core. It offers new and improved, highly flexible deployment options. You can choose from a traditional on-premises deployment, a hosted service with Microsoft Office 365 sites powered by Microsoft SharePoint Online, deployment in Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), or a mix of these options with a hybrid approach, empowering you to choose how and when you take advantage of on-premises or cloud-based solutions - all without changing the user experience.

5 Infrastructure Flexible deployments
SharePoint Server 2016 provides the flexibility to tailor deployments based on your unique business needs. Maximize the value of your existing infrastructure while taking advantage of the latest hardware innovations and computing technologies. 8 Modernize your customer’s on-premises infrastructure to improve speed and scale, and enable new user experiences SharePoint brings cloud and hybrid innovation to your customer’s data center so they can get the best of both worlds—speed and productivity for users with flexibility and control for IT. Achieve higher margins from your deployment practices by changing the conversation from initial roll out to lifecycle management We know that deploying a new version of SharePoint requires a lot of effort for organizations. Traditional upgrade and patching requires new server farms, identifying and upgrading applications for reinstallation, and significant engineering effort to implement the process. For SharePoint Server 2016, we want to reduce that effort by moving to a 0 downtime in-place upgrade process, a discrete role-based installation process that captures our experience running SharePoint at scale in Office 365 and puts it into code, and to help with the application compatibility process, we want to provide new tools to make sure customers are confident that their apps will work. What this means to you is SharePoint Server 2016 will be easier to adopt, which in turn accelerates customer deployments.

We will phase this in running it on existing sites and you will be able to host the new parts in existing SharePoint pages. We are using this framework to create many of the out-of-box pages I showed earlier and these new pages will be hosted by controls in the native SharePoint app I described earlier so they are great on phones ready Day 1. We will let you leverage the latest javascript frameworks like React and Angular. This will give us dramatically better experiences, performance, mobile support, etc. while again broadening our developer ecosystem from .NET and beyond.
