3 INTRODUCTION Population Census in Indonesia 2010 (SP2010) was conducted by BPS- Statistics Indonesia  the main goal is counting of Indonesian people for the census day of May 15, 2010. BPS-Statistics Indonesia has conducted population census since and held once in 10 years (1971, 1980, 1990, 2000). SP2010 covers all level of government administration as: Hamlet and Village level, Subdistrict level, Regency/Municipality level, Province level, National level (Indonesia). The data based on each level describes some characteristics of social and economic indicators.

4 INTRODUCTION There are 80 standard tables has been produced from SP2010, classified into 9 broad topics: Population Distribution Family and Household Structure Fertility Migration Education Labor Force Housing Social Welfare The results have released and disseminated in website, free of charge (

6 Highlights of SP2010 Data The Number and Distribution of Population
The population recorded for 15 May 2010 was people, divided between those residing in urban areas ( people or percent) and rural ( people or 50.2 percent). Among the countries with the largest populations in the world, Indonesia ranks fourth after China, India, and the United States. Sumatra island, 25.2 percent of the entire Indonesian territory is inhabited by 21.3 percent of the population, Java which 6.8 percent of the land is inhabited by percent of the population and Papua which covers 21.8 percent of land is inhabited by 1.5 percent of the population.

7 Highlights of SP2010 Data Population by Sex
Male population of Indonesia is Female is The sex ratio (SR) is 101, meaning there are 101 males for every 100 women. SR by province, the lowest is 94 in West Nusa Tenggara Province and the highest is 113 in the province of Papua. SR in national level for age group 0-4 is 106, ages 5-9 is 106, five-year age groups from 10 to 64 ranges from 93 to 109, and age 65+ is 81.

8 Highlights of SP2010 Data Population by Age
The median age of population for Indonesia in 2010 is 27.2 years. [A population is young if the median age is less than 20, medium if between 20 and 30, and old if the median age is more than 30]. Population dependency ratio is This number indicates that for every 100 people in productive age group there are around 51 who are not in productive age group. Urban areas have a dependency ratio 46.6, lower than the rural dependency ratio of 56.3. The average age of first marriage is 25.7 years for male population, and 22.3 years for women (estimated by Singulate Mean Age at Marriage / SMAM).

9 Highlights of SP2010 Data Recent Migrant
Number of people as recent (5-years) migrants has risen. The Census recorded people or 2.5 percent of the population are recent interprovincial migrants. In percentages, urban recent migrants are more than three times higher than in rural areas (3.8 percent compared to 1.2 percent). The analysis by gender shows the sex ratio of recent migrants to become The data strongly relate to a theory that migrants would have been more in urban than in rural areas and males are more mobile. Some provinces such as Kepulauan Riau, Papua Barat and DI Yogyakarta are the main destination for migrants, mostly due to working, looking for job or schooling.

The 2010 Population Census recorded people or 11.8 percent of population as interprovincial life time migrants. In percentage, urban life time migrants is almost three times higher than in rural areas which is 17.2 percent compared to 6.3 percent. The analysis by gender shows that total male migrants is much higher than female migrants, counting compared to people. This brings the sex ratio of life time migrants to Target provinces include Kepulauan Riau, DKI Jakarta, and Kalimantan Timur are the main destination for migrants, mostly due to working, looking for job, or schooling.

Based on the results of SP 2010, the working age population (15 years and over) amounted to million, comprising 84.3 million men and 84.7 million women. Of these, the number of labor force, which is the population 15 years and over who are economically active or working, seeking work, or willing to work amounted to million, comprising 68.2 million men and 39.5 million women. Viewed by region, the number of labor force living in urban areas is 50.7 million people and living in rural areas is 57.0 million people. Of the total labor force, the number of working population is million and 2.8 million people are unemployed. In terms of unemployed (looking for work) reached 2.8 million.

12 Highlights of SP2010 Data Housing of Indonesia’s Population
Rapid increasing of Indonesia's population number affects to increasing of needs on residences as well. Result of the 2010 Population Census (SP2010) showed that proportion of households occupying their own house was 77.7 percent. Of those about 55.3 percent hold legal evidence of a certificate of ownership (SHM). Most households occupied residential buildings with floor area per capita of 13 m2 or more (56.98 percent) and main source of lighting was electricity (93.9 percent).
