25 Guidelines for MS Math Articulation
Students enrolled in C2.0 Math 5 should be enrolled in C2.0 Math 6 Students enrolled in C2.0 Math 5/6 should enroll in C2.0 IM Lisa A student who is currently in C2.0 Math 5, potentially receiving the enrichment/acceleration within the curriculum for the course, is expected to articulate to C2.0 Math 6. Students will continue to have enrichment/acceleration opportunities to experience greater depth in their learning in order to meet their individual needs. The question has been raised about moving from C2.0 Math 5 to C2.0 Investigations into Mathematics (IM). This will mean missing the standards and depth of understanding of a full year of C2.0 Math 6. Additionally, students will not be ready for the expectations of future higher level mathematics courses, such as Algebra 1 and Geometry.

29 English and Digital Literacy
English courses are all at the advanced level. The same text is used throughout the grade level. Assignments are created so students receive appropriate support to meet course requirements. English focuses on literature, and students will learn to analyze the texts through writing with an emphasis on providing textual evidence to support their thinking. This course will also support independent reading and reflection assignments, vocabulary knowledge, parts of speech, and sentence structure. WHAT is the DIFFERENCE between English and Digital literacy Digital Literacy explores communication in a broader sense than English. Students develop research skills in order to work through a problem-based process to define real world problems in a technology rich medium. Richard

My name is Kristy Myers and I am the World Language Resource Teacher. Tonight, I’m going to talk to you about the requirements for 6th grade students who are recommended to take a foreign language. • Our foreign language offerings for next year are French and Spanish. • To be eligible for a foreign language in 6th grade, students are recommended by their 5th grade teacher. • Those students recommended need to  Maintain A’s and B’s  Have strong organizational skills  Pay attention to detail  Have good presentation skills & verbal ability  Work well in group & partner activities AND  Have MAP-R scores TWO grade levels above a 5th grade reading level Research shows that students are ready for a foreign language when the student has: 1. keen memorization skills, 2. excellent assignment completion skills 3. and demonstrates a high level of motivation. • Taking a world language in 6th grade is about maturity. The expectations are very high for the 6th graders as they are adjusting to middle school. • Also, it is about the readiness and willingness to study every night and do the same homework as a high school student. • However, we have had 6th graders that are really successful in language. • Lastly, World language classes are high school credit courses that are reflected on high school GPA and transcripts. Thank you!  and now…(introduce next person)
