2. What is Mythology?
Usually a traditional story of events that serves to unfold part of the world view of a people or explain a practice, belief, or natural phenomenon.
Earthquakes, lightning, thunder, etc.
Myths often involve divine, supernatural, and/or heroic characters.

3. What is Mythology?
Or a collection of fictional stories involving the actions of gods, goddesses and other imaginary characters, intended to explain the unexplainable.
Horses played a crucial role in many mythological stories.

4. Pegasus A winged stallion pure white in color born of Greek gods.
In Greek mythology, when Perseus (Greek soldier) cut off Medusa's head (lady with snakes as hair), the blood sank into the earth and produced the winged horse Pegasus.

5. Pegasus
Everywhere the winged horse struck his hoof to the earth, a pool of water would appear.
Carried thunderbolts for the God Zeus.

6. Unicorn
Has a large, pointed, spiraling horn projecting from its forehead.
Extremely wild woodland creature.
Symbol of purity and grace
Only be captured by a virgin.
Horn was said to have the power to make poisoned water drinkable and to heal sickness.

7. Centaurs Centaurs were half horse and half man. Were very warlike.
Battled humans in Greek mythology.
Drank a lot of wine.
Liked to carry off young maidens.

Could speak

9. Sleipnir Norse God (Norse are from Northern Europe) 8-legged horse
Represents the bier (coffin holder) of the dead man
Also represents the passage between worlds (life & death)
Transporter of the dead

10. Hippocampus From Greek myth
Top half has a horse head, neck and forelegs
Lower part is of a fish, dolphin or a serpent
Needed to pull Poseidon’s chariot of the sea

What does it look like (physical description)?
Does it have any special powers/abilities? Is it known for anything? Interesting facts?
Is it harmful to humans? If yes, how?
