2. Who Was Muhammad?  Muhammad was born in Mecca in the year 570.He was raised by his uncle Abu Talib.  At the age of 25 he married Khadija,she was twice his age and had Four daughters and two sons. They all died at a very young age.  Around 15 years after his marriage he started hearing strange voices and had visions.  At the age of 40 he went into a cave to pray, an angel appeared and told him "O Muhammad, you are the messenger of God, and I am the angel Gabriel" Muhammad was scared he thought he was being attacked by an evil spirit.

4. The Beginning of Islam  He was afraid he was unworthy of his mission.  Muhammad started to spread the word of his g-d, and began to attracted followers.  Later more and more people started to believe in Mahammad’s message.

The Beginning of Islam  Soon some of the powerful people from Mecca were afraid because Muhammad’s ideas were different from theirs so they began to persecute Muhammad’s followers.  Muhammad's wife Khadija and his uncle Abu Talib died. This event really affected Muhammad's position in Mecca.  In 622 Muhammad and his followers were force to leave Mecca.They settled in the town of Yathrib the war torn area.

6. Islam  They lived there for 10 years. Later the name was change to Medina “the city of the prophet”  Time passed and they began to win more converts they tried to attract the Jews but there attempts fail.
