6 Martin Luther King Jr. was a civil rights leader who became the face of the civil rights movement. ➔ He was completely committed to his cause (or dream). ◆ MLK strongly believed that ending segregation and freedom could be achieved, most importantly he believed the key to this is nonviolence. ◆ He led a social movement of equality that went against society, although many hated him and made multiple attempts violently to hurt him he still remained committed to his goal. ◆ This leadership quality makes him an inspirational figure and changed the way people thought, addressed, and responded to equality.
