At South Delhi they incorporate a lot of traditional textile making methods into new fashions, focus on making up garments and are technically very proficient. In the UK our approach is based on new ideas and innovation, with less emphasis on traditional skills.” “Attempting to form links overseas, particularly with a country like India with an expanding textiles and apparel sector, has helped raise our profile with the local borough council and the Asian Business Federation. Both are interested in forging links with South Delhi Polytechnic” (Neil Owen, Blackbrun College)

9 UKIERI – City College Norwich, Tower Hamlets College and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade Benefits “It’s really vital that our students have an understanding of the global position of financial services. Meeting the students from India raised their cultural awareness in a much better way than just doing it in the classroom. And when they go to India they will see a comparison between financial services in the UK and India. Norwich Union and Marsh send managers all over the world, so the visit will help prepare our students for working internationally.” (Jenny Probert, City College Norwich) “This project keeps us up-to-date, it’s very good to have international relationships, to learn about good practice from other colleges.” (Therese Reinheimer-Jones, Tower Hamlets College) “It is prestigious for us to be invited to take part in this type of activity and it’s giving the college a positive image with local employers. We’re learning from what happens in another country and developing our relationship with another leading financial services college in the UK.” ( John Brierley, City College Norwich)
