5. Mark 4: 37-40 (NIV) 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”

6. 39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!”Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

7. 3 Types of Storms SELF MADE STORMS: “OOPS I DID IT AGAIN” -Decisions made out of Disobedience, Pride, Anger -Need rescuing from. GRACE & MERCY GOD DESIGNED STORMS: TRANSFORMATION (Jonah 1:5- 6) -Redirect us back to our God given Purpose. Without the storm, many of us were headed in the wrong direction. Storm turned us around.

8. 3 Types of Storms ENEMY SENT STORMS: STEAL, KILL & DESTROY (John 10:10) - Devil is not after our stuff…he’s after our PEACE & JOY!! WHY? Because the Joy of the Lord is our Strength! (Nem 8:10) -Marital, Family, Mental, Physical, Spiritual struggles -The devil may have some power on the earth, but he doesn’t have more power than a BELIEVER In the LORD JESUS CHRIST!!

9. REMEMBER: THERE IS A LESSON IN EVERY STORM! -GREATEST TEACHERS -STOP ASKING “WHY ME” & ASK “WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE ME LEARN”? -GOD, SELF, OTHERS

11. NAVIGATING THE STORM: -When you don’t know what to do…keep doing what you KNOW to do -As a Child of God, we need to learn how to BE the same in hard times. We don't have to FEEL the same. -Continue in the Word, Worship, Intercession & Serving. POSTURE. NO CHRISTIAN STRIKES. -Expect some Storms. We are not exempt.

12. NAVIGATING THE STORM: -Ideology that if God is with us, we shouldn’t have storms...ever -NOT TRUE! Storms WILL come BUT He promises to be with us through EVERY storm and that it will NOT destroy us. -It’s a matter of WHEN not IF…. -Read: Isaiah 43:2-4 & John 16:31-33

13. NAVIGATING THE STORM: Isaiah 43:2-4 (The Message) But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end.

I paid a huge price for you: All of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.

15. NAVIGATING THE STORM: - John 16:31-33 (The Message) Jesus answered them, “Do you finally believe? In fact, you’re about to make a run for it—saving your own skins and abandoning me. But I’m not abandoned. The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”

16. NAVIGATING THE STORM: -We do not have to be afraid of trouble or trials -We are never abandoned, the Father is with us -When we trust Him, we become unshakable, assured & deeply at peace - Deep Peace is unwavering…regardless of the storms and the waves in Your life!

17. NAVIGATING THE STORM: Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

THE DEEP PEACE OF GOD: -Not rooted in the increase or decrease of our finances -Our husbands can’t give it to us, whether romantic or not, helpful partner or not, attentive or not. -Not a result of your children’s obedience or how wonderfully Christian they are or aren’t at the moment. -It is not connected to your emotions or how people treat you. Peaceful moment/day/week and still not have peace.

20. THE DEEP PEACE OF GOD -Not peace and quiet. Not about noise levels or less busyness. Not even about not worrying (calming yourself). -Peace that Bible speaks of guards Your heart and mind. It protects your emotions & thoughts...from being destroyed. -An assurance…a knowing (Isaiah 59:19) that when the enemy comes rushing in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard.

21. THE DEEP PEACE OF GOD: -Brings stillness (Be still and know that He is God). Operating from a place of stillness…I will not be moved. - We’ll never learn how to HAVE peace until we learn how to SPEAK peace to the waves within us of anxiety, fear, doubt, anger.

22. THE DEEP PEACE OF GOD: -Be encouraged, God has conquered the world and all of its problems, situations & circumstances. -HE IS GREATER THAN ANY PROBLEM. HE’S GREATER THAN ANY STORM WE CAN FACE! -Don’t mistake the presence of the storm to indicate the absence of God. God is in the midst of the storm!

23. BLESSED ASSURANCE: -Moments when we go through the storm, it seems like Jesus is sleeping on our boats. Seemingly not moving, very quiet. -Does He care? Does He see? YES HE DOES!! -HE CARES! HE SEES! HE’S WITH YOU! HE WANT’S TO GUIDE YOU THROUGH IT, IF YOU’LL LET HIM - SURRENDER & TRUST

24. BLESSED ASSURANCE: Psalm 46:1-3 (The Message) 1-3 God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in sea storm and earthquake, Before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains. Jacob-wrestling God fights for us, God-of-Angel- Armies protects us.
