1 “But God…” on Fear & Anxiety

2 Sticky Statement: Suspicion is the Ishmael of discernment.
Suspicion doesn’t have all the facts Nor all the truth

3 "Prejudice" - to make a judgment or decision on someone else's behalf without facts or truth.
Value judgments based on a personal prejudice

4 If we hold our ground and lift up the name of Jesus, the “looming doom in the room” will leave.
James 4:7, “Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

5 Mark 4: “And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling.  But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?”  And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” 40 He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? Have you still no faith?” 41  And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

6 God often counsels: “don’t be afraid,” (be gripped by fear), “nor be dismayed” which has a Hebrew meaning of “don’t fall to pieces in the face of your circumstances and throw yourselves on the ground.” there are things more important than being afraid.

7 Vs. 40 – faithless dread Vs. 41 – Gr
Vs. 40 – faithless dread Vs. 41 – Gr. “phobos”, where we get our word for phobia 68 times the Lord commands us to not be afraid….hmmmm, could be important to carefully consider.

8 "Deal with the lie and the fear will die."
We need some “trans” in our “formation”

9 The Lord says trust in Him, not in tomorrow.
Matt6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.” The Lord says trust in Him, not in tomorrow.

10 Jacob feared what “MIGHT” happen God spoke of what “WILL” happen
Gen32: “Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and attack me and my family. For You said, ‘I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for the multitude.” Jacob feared what “MIGHT” happen God spoke of what “WILL” happen God’s promise was/is a reality, not a potential. His promise was/is more sure than tomorrow.

11 2Tim1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
Think! Matthew 22:37  And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

12 God’s promise is a reality, not a potential
God’s promise is a reality, not a potential. God's promise is more sure than tomorrow! In the place where things are truly non-existent, God's promise still stands!

13 S.B.T. Stop! Breathe! Think!

14 There is nothing wrong with carefully and wisely "filling in the blank" unless we "fill in the blank" about God according to our history with men.

15 His Word trumps all our experience and circumstance
Are we being trained by the world or being trained by grace? Who’s your trainer? Who’s your Daddy? Titus 2: “For the grace of God has appeared…training us….”

16 1- Tomorrow does not physically exist yet, 2- Tomorrow will come, 3- God’s promise today is tomorrow’s fact even though tomorrow doesn’t exist yet. Nothing about tomorrow physically exists except God’s promise, which is more sure than tomorrow.

17 Deuteronomy 3:22 “You must not fear them, for the LORD your God Himself fights for you.'"
God makes them a promise about their future, and His promise is as good as accomplished in the things which are not yet.

18 Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you
Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." God's promise of "WILL BE" trumps the fear of "MIGHT BE"... God promises He will be with us in all our tomorrow's. Matt 26:11 (always), Heb 13:5 (never)

19 Review: - “But God..." trumps all possibilities of the terror of tomorrow. - God's promise of "WILL BE" trumps the fear of "MIGHT BE"... He promises He will be with us in all our tomorrow's. - God makes us a promise about our future, and His promise is as good as accomplished in the things which are not yet.

20 God’s promise is more sure than tomorrow
God’s promise is more sure than tomorrow. Even if you don’t know where you’re going, He is already up ahead waiting for you.

21 Remember the words of Jesus: Luke 12:32 "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom."

22 Trust God – In Him we move and have our being. See John 14:11
