Why do I want to visit the Grand Canyon? There are lots of reasons as to why I want to visit the Grand Canyon. Here are just a few of them

Reason 1: Awesome Landscape! The Grand Canyon is one of the best examples of erosion anywhere in the World. It is 277 miles long, 18 miles wide and 1 mile deep!

Reason 2: Rampaging River! The Colorado river, all 277 miles of it, winds its way through the Grand Canyon. It continues to erode the steep sides as it moves. It is great for activities like white water rafting.

BCR The process that formed the Grand _______________ is __________________, such as rivers, floods and rain. 75 million years ago, water carved a steep slope into the Colorado __________________. Therefore, water formed the Grand Canyon by ____________________, _____________________, and ________________________ rocks downstream. Weathering is the __________________________ of rocks into smaller pieces. The fast moving water from rain can cause a ____________________ which breaks (weathers) rocks quickly. The _____________ River weathers rocks over a longer period of time. Erosion is ______________ of weathered rocks. ___________________ occurs in the Grand Canyon because of rain water and the Colorado River moving smaller rocks. Deposition is when weathered rock is put down in a new __________________. ____________________ and water move the sediment downstream in the Colorado River. The Grand Canyon was formed over millions of years by _____________________, erosion and deposition of rocks.
