3 Copyright © Ed2Net Learning, Inc.3 Repeated Subtraction Repeated Subtraction can also be used to find the Quotient. It states to take away over and over again.

4 Copyright © Ed2Net Learning, Inc.4 Steps to find Division using Repeated subtraction. Subtract the divisor from dividend again and again until you reach 0. Count the number of times you subtract the divisor. The quotient is the number of times you subtracted to reach 0.

5 Copyright © Ed2Net Learning, Inc.5 Example 12 ÷ 3 = Use repeated subtraction. Subtract 3 until you get 0. 12 – 3 = 9 9 – 3 = 6 6 – 3 = 3 3 – 3 = 0 Thus, 12 ÷ 3 = 4

8 Copyright © Ed2Net Learning, Inc.8 Example If 16 ÷ 8 = 2 is the basic fact then Quotient of 1,600 ÷ 8 is the multiple of 100 of 2 Thus, Quotient of 1,600 ÷ 8 = 200 Quotient of 160 ÷ 8 = 20
