1 Objectives: 10/15 and 10/16 Objectives: 1. I will know (knowledge): important individuals from the Renaissance who made a significant impact on the world. 2. I will be able to (skill): decide which individual from the Renaissance made the most significant impact on World History. Procedures: 1. Dating document analysis 2. Renaissance speed dating 3. Individual reflection Reminders: 1. Utopia project due Friday 2. RSP Document Analysis Charts due next week.

2 Document Questions 1.What are two dating practices listed that sound strange to us in today’s society? 2.How did arranged marriages work? What was/is the purpose of arranged marriages? 3.Explain what Shakespeare is saying in his sonnet. 4.Who wrote the Courtship document? In which source did this document first appear? 5.What does this document tell you about the time period in which it was written? 6.What are some similarities/differences compared to dating practices today? Which dating practices used today do you think would seem strange to people living during the Renaissance?

3 Speed Dating Put your Renaissance person’s name and occupation on your name tag. Memorize 3 facts about your person that you will share with the other Renaissance people that you will be “dating”. (You may use scratch paper as a cheat sheet if you need to) Try to impress the person you are talking to. Don’t tell them about your death or your mom. Travel around the room and meet the different Renaissance men and women. Record the facts about the people on your chart as they tell you about themselves. Everyone should be talking to each other! No passing information—that would be a weird date.

4 Reflection Choose one figure from the Renaissance dating activity who you see as the person who made the most significant contributions to the time period and to world history. Write 1 paragraph justifying your choice. Explain why your person’s contributions were more significant than the rest. How are we still affected by this person’s contributions in today’s world?
