2 CHILDREN’S SCIENCE CONGRESS  A PROGRAM OF NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY COMMUNICATION (NCSTC), DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY, GOVT OF INDIA  CONDUCTED ANNUALLY AT NATIONAL LEVEL BETWEEN 27 AND 31 DECEMBER  PARTICIPATION AT NATIONAL IS THROUGH SELECTION FROM STATE, FROM REGION, FROM DISTRICT

3 Aims & Objectives  National Children's Science Congress (NCSC) provides the children of 10 to 17 years from all over the country a unique opportunity to use their scientific temperament and knowledge to make their own dreams come true. The program was initiated in 1993, with the following objectives  To provide a forum to the young scientists to pursue their natural curiosity and to quench their thirst for creativity by experimenting on open-ended problems;  To make you feel that science is all around and you can gain knowledge as well as solve many problems also be relating the learning process to the physical and social environment of the neighbourhood;  To encourage children throughout the country to visualize future of the nation and help building generation of sensitive, responsible citizens;  To stimulate scientific temperament and learning the scientific methodology for observation, collection of data, experiment analysis arriving at conclusions and presenting the findings.

4 CHILDREN’S SCIENCE CONGRESS  CHILDREN FROM THE AGE GROUP OF 10-17 YEARS  FORM A TEAM OF 2-5 LIKE-MINDED ONES  TO UNDERTAKE A PROJECT ON A FOCAL & SUB- THEME  WORK ON A LOCAL, SOCIAL-RELEVANT PROBLEM  USING METHODS OF SCIENCE  COME OUT WITH DEFINITE CONCLUSION / SOLUTION  PRESENT IN A REPORT FORM AND ORALLY

5 CSC PROJECT INNOVATIVE SIMPLE PRACTICAL INEXPENSIVE

6 CSC PROJECT  IDENTIFY LOCAL PROBLEM, CORRELATE WITH FOCAL & SUB-THEME  WORK UNDER SELF-EXPLANATORY TITLE, IN WELL-DEFINED LOCAL / GEOGRAPHICAL AREA  OBSERVATIONS RECORDED IN A LOG BOOK  PROJECT IS SURVEY AND / OR OBSERVATION AND / OR EXPERIMENTATION  DATA IS SUBJECTED TO ANALYSIS  INFERENCES ARE MADE  SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEM SUGGESTED  ACTION PLAN FOR FOLLOW-UP DEVISED  USE OF LIVE, HAZARDOUS AND INFLAMMABLE SUBSTANCES RESTRICTED  MODELS ARE NOT ENCOURAGED UNLESS IT EXPLAINS OPERATION OF A DEVICE OR THE LIKES
