a. Tsunami Warning System Pacific seismic stations (buoys) relay data to Hawaii and other island nations. this can give sufficient time to evacuate coastal areas.

II. Earthquake Predictions a.Short-Range Predictions So far predictions have not been successful. b. Long-Range Forecasts A seismic gap refers to an area that is prone to earthquakes but has not had one in recent times.

III. Preparedness If you lived in an Earthquake prone area, what things would you do to prevent loss of life or damage to your home?
