5 Benchmarks Desirable stock in hand : 15% (+ or - 5%) Lifting of foodgrains [1.4.08 to 31.12.08] : 69% (+ or - 10%) Utilisation of foodgrains and cooking cost [1.4.08 to 31.12.08] : 94% (+ or – 10%) Every month 1/12th of foodgrains is lifted & distributed. Utilisation of foodgrains & cooking cost is synchronous. State’s AWP&B is in accordance with M/HRD’s guidelines. Data in the AWP&B is authentic, reliable & based on the records.

21 Achievement under Kitchen Devices Amount (Rs. in lakhs) Central assistance of Rs. 15.40 lakhs for procurement of kitchen devices in 308 schools has been utilised on replacement of 22 steam boilers in 9 central kitchens. 100%

23 Performance Audit Report No. PA 13 of 2008 :- State Governments did not fix the target for inspections (25% of schools every quarter) and consequently no inspections were carried out at all (para 13.2). Essential records containing of meal cooked and served, presence of parents at the time of cooking, testing and serving of meal were not maintained in any of the States. (Para 18.6). Macronutrients and supplements were not administered. (Para 13.3). No inspection with regard to Fair Average Quality (FAQ) of food grains had been carried out. (Para-21). Mismatch in utilization of food grains and utilization of was noticed. (Annexure- IX) (Para 18.1). In Pondicherry, 11 teachers were posted as full time kitchen in charge in the central kitchens. (Para-21). State level SMCs were not constituted. (Para-23). SMCs were not constituted at District/Block levels.(Para-23).
