In general..What is pollution? In general..What is pollution? Pollution is the introduction of a contaminant into the environment. It is created mostly by human actions, but can also be a result of natural disasters like hurricanes. Pollution has a detrimental effect on any living organism in an environment, making it virtually impossible to sustain life.

Pollution influences negatively our ecosystem, infact when the environment develops anomanously occur the ecological crises. An ecological crises can be local or global and it can take place over both a short or a long period of time. What does pollution do?

The main kinds of pollution are: Soil contamination: mainly due to human activities that cause an imbalance in the natural soil environment; Air pollution: due to release of chemicals and particulates by industry and motor vehicles, that are responsable for the production of nitrogen oxides; Water pollution: caused by industrial waste, agricultural drainage and sewage; Radioactive contamination: caused by accident in nuclear power station and by the use of nuclear weapons; Noise pollution: including aircraft, roadway, industrial noise and high- intensity sonars; Light pollution; Visual pollution Kinds of pollution

Light pollution is the excessive light that is created by us. It poses a threat to the eyes, disturbs the ecosystem apart from interfering with astronomical observations. It is high time that we take corrective measures to control it as each year the problem of light pollution is getting worse. We will take a look at the causes of light pollution Light pollution

Light pollution is caused by uncontrolled emissions and reflections. Excessive use of light emitting sources also causes significant loss of light energy and increases the production of greenhouse gases. Estimates point out that about one-third of the energy used for outdoor lighting is sent to outer space where it doesn't serve any useful purpose and causes light pollution. The rate at which the urban areas are expanding is contributing to the increase in the levels of light pollution. The range of new outdoor lighting products has also led to an increase in the light pollution levels. Causes of light pollution

Continuous exposure to bright light can cause neurological disorders such as insomnia, migraine and depression. It has far reaching effects on nature and animals. It interferes with the biological cycle of nocturnal animals, altering their feeding, migration and reproduction activities. Light pollution confuses birds and animals as can be seen from the way sea turtles turn towards the road instead of the ocean after hatching their eggs on the beach. Light pollution causes waste of energy and puts a strain on the already depleting resources on earth. The streetlights in US alone generate around 2.3 million tons of carbon dioxide in a year. Effects of light pollution

Many of us think that there is no such thing as visual pollution. I would be happy if it was true. But the reality is not like that. We are being affected by this visual pollution effects. But matter of fact is that we are used to it by watching it regularly so now we can’t distinguished this matter at present, But it’s time to change. We have to be conscious about this kind of pollution. For this we have to be conscious about Visual Pollution. In the first we step should be know about “what is visual pollution” Visual pollution is not very common topic as water, air, land pollution but this a topic is so sensitive that many of us didn’t notice about this. Visual pollution affects mainly our eyes. It’s a man-made pollution that blocks someones view that can be seen normally. Visual pollution occurs when a person feel uneasy while looking at some visual objects which is blocked by unusual disturbing elements such as billboard, Wall paintings, posters, junk yards and many more. Visual pollution

Like other pollutions, visual pollution does not harm the environment directly. It generally affects human mind. If we say it more directly then we have to say that visual pollution affects human’s eye. While walking on the road, visual pollutants (bill board, banners, wall painting etc.) block the natural view of our eyes. These disturb the natural capacity of our eyes. Not only this disturb our eyes but it also affects our mind. The damage of our thinking power is caused by visual pollution. Though doctors doubt about this but I think visual pollution not only blocks our view but also destroy our imagination power slowly. Effects of visual pollutionEffects of visual pollution

Solutions to pollution All the governments are allocating a lot of research funds to develop new technologies that will eliminate or at least reduce the pollution being generated today without causing any hardship to our lifestyles. Even if such a technology is developed and implemented, it will create new types of pollution itself. Seems to be impossible to control pollution by developing new technologies to reduce the pollution being caused by existing technologies. As human population keeps on increasing, so does pollution. The following are essential to control pollution: 1. Limit the population 2. Adopt simpler lifestyles that will create less pollution in the first place. The idea that some future technology is going to eliminate pollution, change mankind, empower generations, bring the world together and save the environment is just more of the hyped promise of the technology revolution.
