1 Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi made his first foreign tour to Bhutan Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi made his first foreign tour to Bhutan. He is on a 2 day official visit to Bhutan on 15 June 2014- 16 June 2014. He was accompanied by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh. A grand welcome was accorded by Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the bilateral relations of India and Bhutan as B2B i.e. Bharat to Bhutan.

2 During the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Supreme Court building which was constructed with assistance from the Government of India amounting to 793.545 million rupees. The Bhutanese economy heavily dependent on India has hit a slump because of a plethora of reasons, including dwindling reserves of the Indian rupee and high inflation. India is the largest trading partner of Bhutan. The volume of the trade is over 6800 crore rupees and around 90 per cent of its foreign trade is with India.

3 Narendra Modi visited Brazil to attend 6th BRICS Summit Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited Brazil to attend the 6th BRICS Summit in Fortaleza, Brazil form 15 July to 16 July 2014. BRICS group includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. During the visit, many decisions were taken and on the sidelines of the summit, the Prime Minister also met with other leaders of BRICS nation. One of the most important decision taken during the 6 th BRICS Summit was the creation of 100 billion dollar New Development Bank with equal contribution from all the BRICS countries. Besides, the Summit also saw the creation of 100 billion dollar Contingency Reserve Arrangement (CRA) fund for the BRICS nation.

4 The Prime Minister on the sidelines of 6 th BRICS Summit in Brasilia met with leaders of the BRICS nation, namely President Xi Jinping of China, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff and President Jacob Zuma of South Africa. Apart from the BRICS leaders, he also met with President Ollanta Humala of Peru, President Donald Ramotar of Guyana and President Dési Bouterse of Suriname.

5 During his meet with Dilma Rousseff, three agreements were signed between the two countries and they were MoU on Cooperation in the Field of Environment Agreement on Space MoU on Cooperation in the Establishment of a consultation mechanism on mobility and consular issues Prime Minister during the journey of Brazil also inaugurated the new Chancery Building of Embassy of India in Brasilia, Brazil.

6 During his speech at the plenary session of the 6th BRICS Summit with theme Inclusive Growth: Sustainable Solutions, PM Narendra Modi emphasizing on establishing People to People contact proposed- 5Ts: Trade, Tourism, Technology, Tradition and Talent to redefine existing paradigms. To establish Sub-national Level exchanges between States, Cities and other local bodies. Nurturing Innovation, by establishing a BRICS Young Scientists’ Forum so as to explore developing innovative mechanisms of Youth engagement.

7 Setting up of BRICS language schools; offering language training in each of our languages Establishing, Massive Open Online Courses, for making quality education, accessible to all. 5 th BRICS Summit was held on 26 March to 27 March 2013 in Durban under the theme: BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Development, Integration and Industrialisation. The 7th Summit will be held in 2015 in Russian city of Ufa. India hosted it’s the third Summit on 29 March 2013 in New Delhi.

8 Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Australia Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited to Australia from 15 November to 18 November 2014. He visited Australia as part of G-20 summit and bilateral summit with Australia. He became the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Australian Parliament. During the summit, he met all the G-20 leaders of the world. He attended the Business Breakfast with the economic leaders of Queensland that was hosted by Premier of Queensland Newman. During the visit he reconstituted the CEO Forum and both the leaders agreed to speed up negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

9 He visited the Australian War Memorial with Prime Minister of Australia Tony Abbott to strive together for a better world. He also addressed the Indian diasporas in Australia. During his visit the following agreements were signed by the both the countries- The Social Security Agreement Agreement concerning Transfer of Sentenced Prisoners MoU on Combating Narcotics Trafficking and Developing Police Cooperation MoU on Cooperation in the Field of Arts and Culture MoU in the Field of Tourism

10 Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Fiji Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited to Fiji on 19 November 2014. He had a meeting with Pacific Island Leaders and announced measures to strengthen partnership with Pacific Islands. He is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit the Pacific countries after Indira Gandhi who visited in 1981. He met the Prime Minister of Fiji, Bainimarama and he is also first Indian Prime Minister to address the Fiji Parliament. 13 Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nepal Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kathmandu, Nepal from 27 November to 28 November 2014. He visited Nepal as a part of 18th SARRC Summit. During his visit, Prime Minister Modi also had bilateral interactions with all six leaders of SAARC member countries to develop closer neighbourly ties, except Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He had meeting with Prime Minister of Nepal Sushil Koirala and both the leaders witnessed the signing of many memorandums of understanding (MoU) and agreements between India and Nepal that includes on tourism, youth exchange, and a motor vehicle agreement.

14 He also held bilateral talks with the other five leaders countries includes Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani, President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen and President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged the SAARC countries to fulfil the pledge taken by them to combat terror and trans-national crimes. He also reminded the terror attack in Mumbai in 2008 and asked to work together to combat terrorism.

15 Prime Minister Modi has invited Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay to visit India, in January 2015 in view of Vibrant Gujarat event. At the end PM Narendra Mondi met Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and broke the ice. The two leaders during the whole summit spent cold shouldering each other.

16 Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sri Lanka Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited Sri Lanka from 13 March and 14 March 2015. This was the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Sri Lanka since 1987. He also became the first Indian Prime Minister to make journey to Jaffna and Talaimannar region of Sri Lanka. He visited Sri Lanka in the third leg of his five-day journey to Seychelles, Mauritius and Sri Lanka from 10 March and 14 March 2015.

17 Main highlights of the visit During the visit, Modi on 13 March 2015 met the President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and discussed a wide-range of issues and fortifying the cooperation between India and Sri Lanka. He also met the opposition leader of Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Nimal Siripala de Silva, leaders of the Tamil National Alliance and the Former President of Sri Lanka, Chandrika Kumaratunga. He also met Northern Province Chief Minister CV Wigneswaran.

18 He also asserted on early and full implementation of the 13th Amendment that provides for devolution on the Tamil majority Northern and Eastern provinces. He expressed India’s strong desire to cooperate and develop a Ramayana trail in Sri Lanka and a Buddhist Circuit in India and flagged of a train service from Talaimannar to Madhu Road. On 13 March 2015, Prime Minister Modi addressed the Parliament of Sri Lanka and assured Sri Lanka about India’s full commitment and support in development partnership with Sri Lanka. He also expressed contentment with Government of India’s decision to extend the benefit of visa on arrival facility to Sri Lanka starting 14 April 2015.

19 Modi paid a visit to Mahabodhi Society and interacted with the Buddhist monks in Colombo. He also visited Anuradhapur, Sri Mahabodhi Tree and offered prayers along with Sirisena. He also visited Jaffna and laid a foundation stone of the Jaffna Cultural Centre. He also visited Naguleswaram Temple in Jaffna and offered prayers in the temple. In Jaffna, Prime Minister Modi handed over homes at Ilavalai North-West Housing Project site and said that around 27000 more homes would be constructed.

20 Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Seychelles Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited Seychelles from 10 March and 11 March 2015. With this, Modi became the first Prime Minister of India to visit Seychelles in 34 long years. Modi was received by the President of Seychelles, James Michel at the Seychelles International Airport. During this visit, India and Seychelles signed four agreements to boost security cooperation.These include agreements on Cooperation in hydrography Cooperation in renewable energy Cooperation in Infrastructure development

21 Cooperation in Sale of navigation charts and electronic navigational charts Besides on 11 March 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the State House and signed the Visitors Book. He also unveiled the Plaque and Operationalisation of Radar for the CSRS India-Seychelles Cooperation Project in Seychelles. Before concluding his Seychelles visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed a massive gathering at a civic reception and touched areas like mitigating climate change, renewable energy and Make in India.

22 Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Mauritius Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited Mauritius between 11 March and 12 March 2015 as part of his three nation tour to Seychelles, Mauritius and Sri Lanka that took place from 10 March to 14 March 2015. Prime Minister of Mauritius Sir Anerood Jugnauth gave the ceremonial reception to Prime Minister Modi during his arrival in the country. During his visit, five Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were signed between the two nations. These include: MoU in the field of Ocean Economy MoU on Programme for Cultural Cooperation for the year 2015-18

23 MoU on the Protocol for the importation of fresh mango from India MoU for the Improvement in Sea and Air Transportation Facilities at Agalega Island of Mauritius MoU on Cooperation in the field of Traditional System of Medicine and Homeopathy Besides on 12 March 2015, Prime Minister Modi joined the National Day celebrations in Mauritius as the guest of honour and also greeted people of the Island nation and offered prayers by pouring Ganga Jal at Ganga Talao, Mauritius.

24 He also addressed the National Assembly of Mauritius and attended the programme to mark the commissioning of the Barracuda, a ship in the service of the National Coast Guard of Mauritius. He also paid homage to the valiant Aapravasis for their human spirit and also described the Aapravsi Ghat as signifying the enduring links between India and Mauritius.

25 Prime Minister Naredra Modi visited France Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited France between 9 April and 12 April 2015 as part of his three-nation tour to France, Germany and Canada. During the visit, Modi met with French President Francois Hollande and had talks with business leaders of select French companies in defence and infrastructure sectors. The meeting saw India and France agreeing to further deepen and strengthen bilateral ties based on shared principles and values. The visit saw the signing of 20 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) and Agreements between India and France to give new impetus to bilateral co- operation between the two nations.

26 The agreements covered the fields of Defence and Nuclear Energy, Space, Economic relations, Railways, Energy, Tourism, Science and Technology, Skill Development and Ayurveda. Other events that happened during Modi’s visit to France He addressed the Indian Community at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris He also addressed the UNESCO at its headquarters on the occasion of its 70th anniversary on 10 April 2015

28 Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Germany Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited Germany between 12 April and 14 April 2015 as part of his three-nation tour to France, Germany and Canada. During the visit, Modi met Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, business leaders and Indian Diaspora. At the end of his talks with the Chancellor, both the leaders issued a joint statement in Hannover by agreeing to take proactive steps to advance collaboration in the areas of manufacturing, skill development, urban development, environment, railways, cleaning of rivers, language and science and technology.

29 During the talks, the two leaders also agreed to strengthen their efforts towards carrying on negotiations for an ambitious European Union (EU)-India Free Trade Agreement with a view to its early conclusion. Other events attended by Modi during the Germany visit He held a round table meeting with the top Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of German Industries in order to urge them to invest in India. He jointly inaugurated Hannover Messe 2015 industrial fair along with Angela Merkel. It is a world leading trade fair industrial technology.

30 He jointly inaugurated the Indo-German Business Summit in Hannover along with Angela Merkel. He addressed the community reception organised by Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in his honour in Berlin. He unveiled the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at Culemannstrasse in Hannover. He met Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's grandnephew Surya Kumar Bose in Berlin. He gifted the German Chancellor some reproductions of Sir C V Raman’s manuscripts and papers who had strong connection with Germany.

31 PM Narendra Modi concluded his three-nation visit to France, Germany and Canada Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 17 April 2015 returned to India after his three-nation visit to France, Germany and Canada. During his nine-day visit, which took place from 9 April to 17 April 2015, he met leaders of the three nations namely French President Francois Hollande, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The visit concluded with some major agreements which would boost Modi’s vision of Clean India, Make in India and others.

32 Some major agreements include purchase of 36 Rafale fighter jets with France, agreement for supply of uranium with Canada for nuclear power plants in India and Airbus plan to come to India and be a part of Make in India initiative. MoUs and agreements signed with France and Germany covered areas like Defence and Nuclear Energy, Space, Economic relations, Railways, Energy, Tourism, Science and Technology, Skill Development, Ayurveda, manufacturing, urban development, environment, railways, cleaning of rivers, language and science & technology.

33 Agreements with Canada covered the areas of uranium, visas, terrorism, foreign investment promotion and protection, Canada-India comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) free-trade deal, culture and people-to-people ties, regional and global issues and others. The other major highlights of the visit were the gifts presented by PM Modi to the leaders of the respective countries. The gifts included A miniature painting titled Guru Nanak Dev to Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper. The painting on handmade paper with mineral colours had Guru Nanak Dev with his two disciples Bhai Mardana and Bhai Bala, sitting beside him is painted in the traditional Indian miniature style.

34 A painting titled Tree of Life was gifted to French President Francois Hollande. Tree of Life: A painting that reflects traditional societal respect for nature in India. Some reproductions of Sir CV Raman’s manuscripts and papers were gifted to the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. CV Raman had strong connection with Germany.

35 Besides, the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper presented ancient Indian sculpture Parrot Lady to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Parrot Lady is a life-sized, sandstone sculpture and is said to be around 900 year old and was carved for placement in one of the Khajuraho temples that form a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Madhya Pradesh. It was returned to India in line with the 1970 UNESCO Convention.

36 Prime Minister visited Bangladesh Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a two-day visit to Bangladesh from 6 June to 7 June 2015. During his first-ever visit to Bangladesh since becoming the Prime Minister, Modi was received at the Shahjalal International airport by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He also received a 21-gun salute and a joint services guard of Honour in a red carpet reception. Events that happened during the visit include- The two nations signed, exchanged, adopted and handed 22 bilateral documents in Dhaka, including historical 1974 Land Boundary Agreement which would settle the 4096- kilometre-long border dispute.

37 Modi along with her Bangladeshi Counterpart Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee flagged off the Dhaka-Shillong- Guwahati and Kolkata-Dhaka-Tripura bus services Modi received the Award of Liberation of War Honour on behalf of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who emphasized on strong ties with the neighboring country. The Prime Minister Modi paid homage to martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War against Pakistan at the National Martyrs War Memorial in Savar, about 20 kms from Dhaka, where he planted a sapling.

38 He visited the Father of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Memorial Museum in Dhanmudi, the site of the assassination of Bangabandhu and his family in 1975 He offered floral tributes at the Memorial Museum on behalf of people of India He visited famous Dhakeshwari Kali temple in Lalbagh, Dhaka. The Dhakeshwari temple was built in the 12 th century by Ballal Sen, a King of Sena dynasty. Dhakeshwari means Goddess of Dhaka and it was given the status of national temple in 1996. He also visited the Ramakrishna Mission (RKM)

39 PM concluded his 6-nation tour to Russia and five Central Asian nations Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13 July 2015 returned to India after his six-nation tour of Russia and five Central Asian countries namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. During his eight-day visit, which took place from 6 July to 13 July 2015, he met the leaders of the five nations namely President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambaev, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, and President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

40 During this visit, Modi also visited Russia and attended the 7th BRICS summit and 2015 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) held in Ufa. These two events became the highlight of the visit after PM Modi met and held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif and some other leaders. He flew back to India from Dushanbe the capital city of Tajikistan, which was the last stop of his visit. Major highlights of this Russia and five-Central Asian countries- Prime Minister Modi, during his stay in Ufa in Russia, attended the Summit of the five-nation BRICS, which focused on economic and security cooperation.

41 He also attended the Summit of the six-member grouping, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, SCO, which decided to grant full membership to India along with Pakistan. On the sidelines of the Summit, Modi held a meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister during which a host of significant decisions were taken to improve ties. One major decision was to speed up the trial in Mumbai attack case, including providing of voice samples of the accused. India-Pakistan joint statement was released at Ufa, Russia.

42 Head of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) nations on 9 July 2015 released the Ufa Declaration. The 7 th BRICS was held under the theme ‘BRICS Partnership – a Powerful Factor of Global Development’. Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) on 8 July 2015 signed framework agreements for equity investments in infrastructure projects in BRICS countries. To boost cooperation within the members of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed a 10 point initiative named as ‘Dus Kadam: 10 Steps for the Future’.

43 Prime Minister visited United Arab Emirates Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi visited United Arab Emirates (UAE) between 16 August and 17 August 2015. He is the first Prime Minister of India to visit UAE after 34 years. The last Indian Prime Minister to visit the UAE was Indira Gandhi in 1981. He visited the country on invitation of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. During the visit, the Prime Minister held talks with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

44 The two nations had fruitful discussion on lateral issues and resolved to maintain regular summits, high level ministerial dialogue and meetings of bilateral mechanisms to realize their vision of a strong comprehensive strategic partnership. Important events held during Modi’s visit to the nation includes- His Highness the Crown Prince decided to allot land for construction of a temple in Abu Dhabi.

45 He also visited the historic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, which is the third largest mosque in the world and can accommodate around 40000 people at a time. It is named after the founder and first President of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The other two mosques’s which are larger than the Zayed Grand Mosque ate the ones in Mecca and Madina in Saudi Arabia. He visited Masdar City, a zero carbon city, where he met with investors.

46 He addressed Indian Diaspora of the country at the Dubai Cricket Stadium. Indian Diaspora forms 30 per cent of the UAE’s population. He also interacted with Indian workers at the ICAD Residential Labour Camping, Abu Dhabi, which houses thousands of migrant labourers from the Indian subcontinent. Besides this, the Prime Minister announced that the Indian mission in UAE has set up an e-migrant portal to help Indian migrant workers and an online platform 'MADAD' to assist them.

47 He also announced a new scheme as part of various measures for the welfare of Indian diaspora living in United Arab Emirates (UAE). The welfare fund will be set up for their benefit, to help them legally so that they can deal with problems.

48 Prime Minister visited Ireland Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ireland on 23 September 2015. He is the first Prime Minister of India to visit Ireland in 59 years. Last Prime Minister to visit Ireland was Jawahar Lal Nehru in 1956. During his visit, Modi held discussions with Prime Minister Enda Kenny of Ireland, who also hosted a Working Lunch in honour of the visiting dignitary. At present, Modi is on a two-Nation tour namely Ireland (23 September 2015) and the United States of America (23 September to 28 September 2015).

49 During his visit to Ireland, Modi presented reproductions of a selection of manuscripts and papers available in the National Archives of India pertaining to two Irish officials, Thomas Oldham (1816-1878) and Sir George Abraham Grierson (1851-1941), in recognition of their contributions in India to the Prime Minister of Ireland Enda Kenny. Important events that happened during Modi’s visit to Ireland includes- The two nations agreed to develop closer partnership and cooperation. The two nations agreed to chart out a roadmap for collaboration in the digital world and for this they agreed to held talks between Joint Working Group on Information Technology soon.

50 To help the professionals from the two countries they displayed interest in concluding social security agreement. The two nations agreed to have direct air services by airlines of both countries. The stance would help in promoting business links along with tourism ties, which is growing at 14 percent per year. India sought Ireland’s support for the reforms of the UN Security Council within a fixed time frame, particularly for successful conclusion of inter- governmental negotiations in the 70th year of the United Nations. India sought Ireland’s support for India’s permanent membership of the reformed Security Council.

51 India also sought Ireland’s support for India’s membership of the NSG and other international export control regimes. India and Ireland share much in common like colonial history. Directive Principles of State Policy in the Indian Constitution are inspired by the Irish Constitution. Institutions like Geological Survey of India and the first Linguistic Survey of India were created with the help of Irish experts.

52 PM Narendra Modi concluded his two-nation tour to UK and Turkey Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 16 November 2015 returned to India after his two-nation tour of the United Kingdom and Turkey. During his five-day visit which took place from 12 November to 16 November 2015, Modi participated in G-20 summit at Antalya in Turkey and met with Queen Elizabeth II, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and others. During this tour, he stayed in UK (12 to 14 November 2015) and Turkey (14 to 16 November 2015). Major Highlights of UK visit- Modi inaugurated Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Memorial in London
