2 The Key Club Pledge I pledge, on my honor, to uphold the objects of Key Club International; to build my home, school and community; to serve my nation and God; and combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.

4 What is Key Club? Key Club is the world’s largest high school service organization. (All student led!) We are dedicated to volunteering and serving the community.

7 How does Key Club work? Cypress Ranch Key Club <Division 3W <Texas-Oklahoma District <Key Club International Kiwanis is an international service organization which consists of different sectors including… K-Kids (elementary) -Builder’s Club (middle school) -Key Club (high school) -Circle K (college) -Kiwanis (adults) -Aktion (adults with disabilities)

8 That’s us! We are one of the biggest club not only in the U.S., but the entire world!

9 Want to know a little more about OUR Key Club? Key Club has approximately 260,000 members in approximately 5,000 clubs represented in 31 countries. WE are the one of the largest out of the total clubs with 400ish members! For 2014-15, our Key Club was ranked #9 out of more than 300 clubs in the Texas-Oklahoma District! We are known across the community, the district, the country, and the world! You are now a part of such an amazing organization with such a huge impact!

10 Who Do We Help? Our Community (Community Festivals and Banquets, Marathons/Triathlons, CFISD events, the Astros, Senior Citizens, SPCA) Our School (Partner with Go Green, HOSA, Model UN, NHS, Athletic Department, Life-Skills) Our Major Emphasis Projects: UNICEF, Children’s Miracle Network, March of Dimes, Eliminate Project Local Organizations (Cy-Fair Helping Hands, Ronald McDonald House, Houston Food Bank)

11 Have YOU signed up? 1.Go to cyranchkey.com then to the Registration tab. Fill out your information; it will take less than 5 minutes! 2.Go to the Important Forms tab, print the two page CFISD Parent Permission Slip, and fill it out! 3.Bring your permission slip with your $30 dues to Ms. Garcia’s in Room 3006!

12 The deadline is… SEPT. 23 RD Remember you are not officially a member until you have completed all three steps (online registration, parent permission slip, and $30 dues!)! Bring them to Ms. Garcia’s room 3006 any morning before class and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons

13 You joined Key Club… now what? You need… 1. 15 service hours (10 of which much be physical) 2. 2 social credits 3. Have missed 2 or less meetings throughout the semester ( 1 st and 3 rd Wed. either 6:35 or 2:40) Your hours/social credits start over every semester! *If you didn’t meet these requirements, you are considered an inactive member and the semester will not count for you.

14 Requirements Explained Key Club Hours: Signupgenius events THROUGH OUR CLUB, counts for semester requirements) Non Key Club Hours: Events at church, science center, library, etc. (Counts towards the Presidential Service Award but NOT semester requirements) When are our meetings? 1 st and 3 rd Wednesdays (6:35am OR 2:40pm)- on back of service cards Terminology: Physical Hours: hours at events on signupgenius (actual volunteer hours) Donation Hours: Food/Toiletry Drives, Walmart Gift Cards, Coke Tabs, etc. Socials: Club “get-together” at restaurant or park, money goes to a charity or to run club

15 3 Strike System Strikes: 1) Cancelling <24 Hours Before 2) No-Show 3) Late Arrival/Leave Early 4) Sign Up For Friends 5) Misbehavior/Complaint at Events or Meetings You will receive emails for every strike offense. After 3 strikes, you are not considered an active member and must reregister. Your hours for that semester will NOT COUNT. Strikes reset per year. If you strike out, NO SENIOR STOLE.

16 REMEMBER! The only way to earn your credit for Key Club volunteer hours and social credits is to volunteer at/attend events offered by our Key Club!

17 How do I get my hours? Make an account on the website! Under “Find A Sign Up” Search: mary.vanmiddendorp@cfisd.net mary.vanmiddendorp@cfisd.net Use this website throughout the year in order to sign up for volunteer opportunities! Also, constantly be checking your email, FB page, our website and Remind101 for alerts on new events!

18 Check Sign Up Genius and the website regularly! We update almost everyday and people delete their signups, so always be on the lookout!

19 BRING YOUR SERVICE CARDS! If you do not have your service card with you at the meeting YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT FOR YOUR ATTENDANCE! The little dates on the back are to be stamped by our officers If you need your service card signed for an event or social you volunteered at/attended, fill out the date, event name, number of hours, etc. and THEN the president, vps, or supervisors will sign it for you!

20 What’s expected of ME? When you’re volunteering… - Wear your Key Club shirt! - Always be on time! - Never leave until your work is completely done! - No purple! - No eating! - No cell phones! -Do whatever is asked of you with a good attitude -Remember… you are there to serve!

22 Donation Drives Current Drive Participate in Donation opportunities for donation hours (up to 5) What: Book Drive Where: Library (MUST SIGN IN) When: Before September 23rd How: Donate NON-FICTION books (new or gently used) Hours: 5 Books=1 Donation Hour (MAX 5) Why: For Glen Oaks Park Elementary after Flooding in Baton Rouge

23 Need donation hours? Coke Tabs! 1 FULL Ziploc bag = 1 donation hour Walmart Gift Cards! Every $5 = 1 donation hour We are always needing to make purchases for the Club! Bring in some Walmart giftcards!

24 Need extra physical hours? IF YOU’RE VOLUNTEERING AND TAKE PICTURES, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EXTRA PHYSICAL HOUR! TO EARN THE EXTRA HOUR, YOU MUST TAKE A MINIMUM OF 10 QUALITY PICTURES! 26 Do you have volunteer hours outside of Key Club? You should work towards… The Presidential Volunteer Service Award! Go to presidentialserviceawards.org and make an account and track your hours throughout the entire calendar year! You can include your Key Club hours as well as any outside hours. We will give you more information as the semester comes to an end! 50% of your total needed hours should be earned OUTSIDE of our Key Club sign-ups!
