TRAUMAS & MICRO-TRAUMAS (M-T) Emotionally charged events (anger, guilt, shame, love pain, loneliness and other unresolved emotions) inhibit a person from reaching their full potential. What is a Trauma or Micro-Trauma? An event that produces a lasting effect.
3
EMOTIONAL LOOPS – NOT FRUIT LOOPS Strong emotions can cause a block to resolving or extinguishing their effects within the neural-network (the mind) as well as in the body and behavior as should normally occur. Brain imaging research concludes that the capacity for efficient crosstalk between the amygdala and the Medial Prefrontal Cortex (mPFC), which is represented as the strength of the amygdala-mPFC circuitry, is crucial to beneficial outcomes in terms of reported anxiety. Kim, Loucks, Palmer, & team. Behavioral Brain Research, (2011) Vol. 223, No. 2.
4
EMOTIONAL LOOPS Remember how strong emotions can cause a block to resolving or extinguishing the effects within the neural-network as should normally occur? It is as if the flow of emotional energy in a neural-network becomes trapped and prevented from flowing and communicating correctly, in much the way material can become trapped in a whirlpool.
5
SANDY’S SITUATION Sandy, a successful software executive was consumed by anger and frustration over the divorce custody negotiations regarding her children.
6
GOOD EMOTIONAL AROUSAL VS. BAD Not all stress is bad. There is an curvilinear relationship between one’s performance and arousal ( stress ). That relationship is called the Yerkes-Dodson Law – (maybe more of a guideline).

NOW THE GOOD NEWS! The effects of both big traumas and micro-traumas can be eliminated. In most cases it doesn’t take years of therapy, and in many situations, with the right tools, people can neutralize those interferences themselves. Before I demonstrate and show you those tools to remove the effects of blocks to being your best and achieving rapid emotional relief, I’ll explain the basis for the system we call Emotional Self-Management described in my book – Instant Emotional Healing: Acupressure for the Emotions
10
ESM IS A MIND-BODY PROCESS Thoughts carry specific fields of electro-magnetic energy Thoughts carry specific fields of electro-magnetic energy Thought energy interacts with body energy – (You ‘feel’ fear, anger, and other emotions as a physical sensation. A BRIEF HISTORY OF ACUPUNCTURE Over 1000-year-old form of oriental medicine 1971 James Reston (NY Times reporter in China advance of 1972 Nixon visit) has acupuncture for post-operative pain control, returns to US and writes about his experience and introduces acupuncture to general US population. 1997 Nat. Inst. Health consensus report acupuncture validated for treating pain and nausea. 2008 Harvard study validates acupuncture effective beyond placebo in treating pain. Past 20 years it’s also been used to help with stress and emotional traumas as well.

WHAT ARE ACUPUNCTURE SITES? Acupuncture/acupressure sites (Acupoints) possess unique electrical characteristics Acupoints conduct electrical current with less resistance than surrounding tissue. Acupoints serve as functional receptive ‘antenna’ to conduct energy Acupoint Locator

HUMAN POLARITY Western - Electrical DC +/- Eastern - Chi energy Yin/Yang Muscle Testing can detect the changes in thought polarity. N/-/Yin S/+/Yang H.S. Burr,Ph.D., Yale University R. O. Becker, M.D. – Syracuse, NY

TESTING POLARITY ORGANIZATION Yale University study of human electrical polarity, Blueprint for Immortality: The Electric Patterns of Life, 1972, C.W. Daniel Company Ltd.: Essex, UK Becker R O, Selden G: The body electric: electromagnetism and the foundation of life, New York City, 1985, William Morrow and Company. Sometimes testing for Polarity reveals Polarity Disorganization – This is corrected by one of several brief steps.

MUSCLE TESTING OF INTERNAL CONGRUENCE & INCONGRUENCE Journal of Perceptual and Motor Skills 1999, Vol. 88 Dr. Daniel Monti and his team experimented to see if making and thinking incongruent statements would affect muscle strength. The results of their study at Jefferson Medical College was published in 1999 Journal of Perceptual and Motor Skills.
17
THE MONTI STUDY 89 Rt-handed healthy subjects connected with a dynamometer and computerized measures of time and force for congruent (True) and incongruent (False) self-referential statements – (e.g. “My name is _____ correct/incorrect” or “I am a U.S. citizen; I am a Russian citizen.”) Counter-balanced trials for T/F order, and right/left arms, male/female.
18
RESULTS OF THE MUSCLE TESTING EXPERIMENT Making verbal congruent (True) statements resulted in 17% greater average force required until the muscle ‘gave way’, as compared with making verbal incongruent (False) statements. No differences were found regardless of order between True and False statements; right or left hand; male or female. Based on non-volitional, autonomic reactions sometimes people who make a True statement (e.g. “I want to be happy”) and test weak, display an opposite body (muscle strength) response. We call this unexpected weak response to a True Statement a POLARITY REVERSAL.
19
EMOTIONAL SELF-MANAGEMENT (ESM) The ESM process corrects for Neurological Disorganization, Polarity Reversals, and releases trapped or chronic emotional reactions. The ESM process uses, structured breathing exercises, points from the Acupressure system, and brain hemispheric activities to generate therapeutic benefits.
20
AN ESM TAP SEQUENCE EXAMPLE
21
THE BRIDGE ‘ The Bridge’ is a sequence of activities involving the eyes and brain hemispheric activities to circulate the treatment through various regions of the brain. You’ll see it involves gentle eye movements then activating the left, right, then left hemispheres of the brain while continuously tapping the Back of Hand spot.
22
THE ESM PROCESS IN ACTION 1. Focus on the emotional distress, the memory, the situation (past, present, or future) and rate the level of current distress caused on a 0 to 10 scale. 2. Do a 3-minute structured breathing exercise (Balanced Breathing) 3. Correct for interfering Polarity Reversals by tapping an acupoint while making a series of cognitive intention statements regarding ‘the problem.’ 4. Go through a sequence of self-applied acupressure and activities associated with integrating the treatment process through regions of the brain. 5. Relief of distress is then measured by refocusing on the target ‘problem’ and assessing the levels of change on the 0 to 10 scale and other subjective changes.

CHANGING CORE BELIEFS – CODE TO JOY 4- Steps to healing Trauma and correcting negative life beliefs. 1.Idenitify - the life-limiting belief and any traumas 2.Clear – the body/mind of interference and prepare for Re-patterning of the limiting belief 3.Re-pattern – release old belief and install new empowering belief 4.Anchor- this holds the re-patterned belief and re-installs and reinforces the belief
24
WRAPPING UP – Q & A Emotional Self-Management is an effective process to reduce and eliminate blocks to resolving strong emotional reactions that have become chronic. A few simple exercises done on a regular basis can increase your effectiveness. Balanced Breathing Correcting for Global Polarity Reversals When life-limiting beliefs have developed from early Traumas or Micro-Traumas, there is the 4-step Code to Joy process. That is for another time. www.DrGeorgePratt.com 858-457-3900
