3 Key Events  The battle took place upon Breed Hill  It was part of the Seige of Boston during the American Revolutionary War  William Howe was the main man in charge  They looked at it as more of a victory than a loss  228 were killed and 800 lived  Most of the battle didn’t occur at Bunker Hill

4 Key People  William Howe from Great Britain: –A British general who was Commander-in-Chief –Around during the American Revolutionary War –He was one of three brothers –Howe successfully captured New York City and Philadelphia –William planned to crush the Americans at Bunker Hill with assault –Major command he had in the battle –His plan worked some, but the cost was…pretty much crazy

5 Key People Part 2  Dr. Joseph Warren: Was a doctor and a soldier. He was looked back as a man who played the lead role in American Organizations in Boston. He died on Bunker Hill.  Israel Putnam: He was a man who out spoke against British taxation policies around the time of the Stamp Act. He was elected to Connecticut General Assembly and was one of the founders of Connecticut Sons of Liberty

6 Outcomes of the battle  British technically won because they had control of the hill  Suffered too many losses to fully benefit from it  Even though the British won it was a short lived victory since the colonists took control of the hill again, but this time with more soldiers to defend it.

7 Important Results From the Battle  The British in the end had won but had suffered a great loss 1,054 casualties.  After everything that went on at the battle of Bunker Hill it is now regarded as a moral victory.

9  General Washington said “Don’t fire until you see the whites of their eyes that way they will be close enough to be killed.”  In the battle the highest ranking colonial died, Major Andrew McClary, he was hit by a cannon fire. Interesting Facts
