3 What’s Plagiarism? When writers use material from other sources, they must acknowledge it. Not doing so is plagiarism, which means using without crediting and parenthetically citing the ideas, expressions, or words of another. (1) Plagiarism is using word for word, without acknowledgment, phrases, sentences, paragraphs, essays, etc., from the written material of others; (2) Plagiarism is using with only slight changes the materials of another (3) Plagiarism is using the general plan, the main headings, or a rewritten form of someone else's material. This applies to the work of other students as well as to the published work of professional writers in print or on the internet.
