2 Objectives Introduce the resources in the Adult Education Teacher Induction Toolkit. Show an example of how these resources can be used to develop a program to mentor new teachers. Assist participants in thinking about ways they might use the resources in the Adult Education Teacher Induction Toolkit.

12 Key Mentoring Strategies Supporting reflective practice Giving effective feedback Using a gradual release approach Using student work to inform practice Effective feedback has the following characteristics: It is evidence-based, specific, concrete, and descriptive. (“Several students were looking at their phones.” rather than “”Many students were bored.”) It is focused on behavior rather than the person. It takes into account the needs of the receiver of the feedback. (considers the amount of information the receiver can use)
