Global low-end storage market overview (lower than band 2)
The total sales revenue of the global low-end market in 2012 reached $3625 million, 2/5 of which was monopolized by Dell and HP. Based on powerful channels, Dell and HP gradually grab the remaining market share by offering lower prices and binding their storage products to servers in sales. The total sales revenue of Chinese low-end market was $326 million, 60% of which was occupied by other vendors (most of which are Chinese vendors). Huawei's S2600T and S2200T occupy 7.5% of the market share. The total sales revenue of the global low-end storage market is $2.2 billion and that of mid-range storage market is $10 billion. It is forecasted that the sales revenue of the external controller-based (ECB) market will reach $50 billion in 2017. In the low-end storage market, Huawei's major competitors are HP and Dell who occupy 41% of the market share, far ahead of other vendors.

S2200T's advantages over PowerVault MD3x00
Better scalability: S2200T supports up to 204 disks. MD32001, MD3200, and MD3600f each support 120 disks, which are scalable to 192 after purchasing license. A larger number of hosts: S2200T supports 256 hosts. MD3200i and MD3220i each support only 32 hosts, and MD3600f supports only 64 hosts. Better data services: S2200T supports the LUN copy, snapshots, and replication. Data services of MD3x00 series are not free of charge. MD3200i and MD3220i support only snapshots. MD3600f supports only snapshots and replication. Although MD3x00 series recently provides SSDs and thin provisioning, S2200T will provide such functions soon. The number of disks and the max. number of hosts supported by the S2200T is 2 and 8 times those of Dell MD3000 respectively. S2200T's advantages over MSA2000 and P2000G3
S2200T outperforms MSA2000fc G2 and MSA2000i G2 in terms of cache capacity (4 GB per controller versus 1 GB per controller), max. number of disk slots (204 versus 60LFF/99LFF), max. number of hosts (256 versus 64), and software features. Although the recently released MSA2040 has improved specifications (8 GB cache and 96LFF/149SFF disk slots) and provides 16 Gbit/s Fibre Channel host ports, this product is not competitive in the low-end storage market. HP's P2000G3 and S2200T are not intended for the same market. P2000G3 is an external storage product intended for the Band 3 market, and S2200T is for the Band 2 market. Although P2000G3 outperforms S2200T in value-added data service features, P2000G3 is inferior to S2200T in scalability, max. number of hosts, and number of front-end ports. P2000G3 is an OEM product from Dot Hill. It has flawed fault diagnosis capability and provides limited technical support. HP's self-developed products and OEM products cannot be managed using unified software, complicating the storage management. Initial investment cannot be protected. The S2200T outperforms MSA2000 and P2000G3 in terms of all hardware specifications. P2000G3 is a Band 2 product and has a higher price the S2200T. As an OEM product from HP, P2000G3 cannot be managed using unified software and has limited fault diagnosis capability and speed.

S2200T's advantages over IBM DS3500/V3500/V3700
IBM's earlier DS3500 storage product is an OEM product from LSI's entry-level 6 Gbit/s Engenio 2600 SAS storage array. The V3500 and V3700 are IBM's first self-developed entry-level storage arrays that have not been applied in a large scale. Therefore, it is risky for users to use the products due to their uncertain system reliability. The V3500's reliability is more doubtful as it appears a pilot product sold in mainland China only. IBM charges extra fees based on the number of services. For example, the number of LUNs and snapshots are license-controlled. This charging mode means rising costs along with increasing customer services. S2200T provides free snapshot function after it is licensed, even after the storage array is expanded in future. IBM's low-end products has no virtualization functions, which are only provided by V5000 and V7000. S2200T's key hardware specifications such as cache capacity, number of ports, and max. number of disks are 2 times those of DS3500/V3500/3700. Under the same budget, S2200T provides better performance and higher specifications.
