Anne’s Life Anne Geddes was born in Queensland, Australia on September 13, 1956. She is self taught. She had no formal training.

Career She didn’t start out as a photographer. She always loved the beauty of quality photography. She has published books and calendars with her photographs but started with magazines.

Inspirations She is known for photographing babies. She is inspired”…by their infinite, delicate beauty, their enormous potential, their unique personalities from the minute they are born, and the overwhelming sense of responsibility parents feel from the minute they first cradle their tiny newborn.”

Early Influences She was influenced by National Geographic and time magazines. She read them and studied the pictures from an early age. Her main focus is photographing babies often times mixed with nature.

Anne’s Photo All the lighting is artificial indoor lighting. The composition of the photos many times does not include rule of thirds or any of the conventional rules. The thing I think is striking is the fact that the babies are never crying or unhappy. She has found a way to make them look beautiful.

Photo Number One The baby is literally in the middle of the photo. However there are leading lines in the wings that lead to the baby The light is coming from the front.

Photo Number Two The lighting is coming from the forward right side. You can tell because there is more light on that side. There is pattern in the repetitiveness of the flowers

Photo Number Three The light is coming from the right side The baby is on the top line in the rule of thirds.

Photo Number Four I am unsure of where the light is coming from as it looks very even throughout. The lines of the arms and legs of the woman lead to the baby.

Photo Number Five The light is coming from the sides in this photo. The is a pattern in the way the babies are laying
