2  Julius Caesar was a roman general who transformed the Roman Empire.  He lead the country out of a chaotic period.

3  Born on July 13, 100 B.C.  Caesar grew up during dangerous times in the empire.  His family was impoverished  Caesar’s father had also served in the Senate.  His mother’s name was Aurelia, who greatly impacted his life.

5  Gave hope to Rome during chaos  Won many political offices in his lifetime  Allied himself with Pompey and Crassus  His alliance with Pompey was reinforced with Pompey marrying his daughter, Julia.  Together they formed the “First Triumvirate”

6  By 46 B.C. he was the emperor of Rome  Adopted his nephew to rule after him because he did not have a son  Kind to his defeated rivals, inviting some to join him in government.  He moved fast to strengthen the northern borders of the empire and tackle its enemies in the east  He made the Senate more representative and granted citizenship to many more foreigners.

8  His rule of dictator was cut short.  His enemies joined up and rebelled.  Caesar was assassinated on March15, 44 BC, in the Senate.  This day is known as the Ides of March.
