2 Communism  Communism- Political theory that advocates that society based on economic equality  Absolute government control of economics  System of government takes off after Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto in 1848.  Talking about class struggle- Business owners versus workers  Problems with capitalism in industrialized 1800’s- Few rich have so much  Has lots of influence in changing Europe in 1800’s revolution of France and Germany and Russia in 1900’s

8 Importance  During the 1960’s a nuclear arms race develops between U.S. and U.S.S.R. that places nuclear weapons in Cuba.  Everyone begins to worry whether weapons because if having nuclear weapons in Cuba could reach most of the United States and its major cities.  Ultimately an agreement is reached and both back down from warfare but both were always afraid of each other for decades.
