Agreements Charter is needed. Mission of DWG is to provide a forum for discussion of requirements and issues related to the OGC standards baseline. Issues could include: Harmonization between OGC standards Harmonization with the work of the OGC with standards from other SDOs Discuss new approaches/technologies that will/could be used across multiple OGC standards (e.g. JSON, consistent exception handling) Discuss how IT best practices can be used and/or expressed in the OGC Copyright © 2015 Open Geospatial Consortium

Actions Coordinate charter development with draft charter developed by Harmonization ad-hoc. Include appropriate harmonization issues relevant to Architecture DWG. Have Architecture DWG draft charter out to pending in time for 3 week rule for Boulder meetings. Ask for input and comments. Approve new charter at Boulder meetings Copyright © 2015 Open Geospatial Consortium

8 JSON-GeoJSON Policy statements
“OGC documents that are put forward for adoption may reference GeoJSON (IETF version) as informative.” NOTE: As of 3/1/2015, GeoJSON submitters have been asked to develop a IETF WG Charter to make GeoJSON work official Once the IETF document is an IETF standards track RFC approved by the IESG, then the OGC can resolve to allow GeoJSON references to be normative. “OGC recognizes the need to specify encodings in JSON for requirements that go beyond the scope of GeoJSON Copyright © 2015 Open Geospatial Consortium

Idea of best practice/restriction rules when using JSON for interchange “OGC should move toward common patterns for JSON” An example: Examples OGC-JSON messages SHOULD NOT include numbers which express greater magnitude or precision than an IEEE 754 double precision number provides, e.g Objects in OGC-JSON messages MUST NOT have members with duplicate names. OGC-JSON messages MUST be encoded using UTF-8 [RFC3629]. Copyright © 2015 Open Geospatial Consortium

10 Discussion and Actions
Define Best Practices – use those defined by other groups? Define rules for mapping from UML to JSON Consider input from OGC/W3C joint activity Copyright © 2015 Open Geospatial Consortium

So - Actions We need a technology neutral abstract “core” from which technology dependent extensions or profiles can be defined. There are many outstanding Change Requests for OWS Common 1.2 Need to reconstitute OWS Common SWG Carl to write new charter. Copyright © 2015 Open Geospatial Consortium
