3 Duties Provide information to referee. Examples: o When the whole ball has crossed out of the field of play o What team is awarded a throw-in, goal kick or corner kick o When a player should be penalized for an offside offense o When a substitution is requested o Signal for misconduct or other events out of the view of the referee o Indicate goalkeeper encroachment during the taking of a penalty kick o Signal for offenses when the assistant referee has a better view than the referee
