The Accrediting Process A means of self-regulation Intended to strengthen and sustain the quality higher education Required for State and Federal funding

The Self-Study Process Should be used to: Advance institutional self- understanding and self-improvement Identify problems and develop solutions to them Identify opportunities for growth and development

Important components of the Self-Study Report Examines University programs and services, with particular attention to student learning assessment. Provides evidence to demonstrate how well the University meets the goals outlined in Vision 2010 and fulfills its mission Demonstrates how well the University meets the 14 Standards of Excellence outlined by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education

Self-Study 2010-Timeline September 2009: Draft self-study posted for University feedback September 23, 2009: Draft self-study to be submitted to Evaluation Team Chair October 15 & 16, 2009: Evaluation Team Chair Preliminary Site Visit March 21-24, 2010: Evaluation Team Visit Summer 2010: Commission Decision Made

Preliminary Visit Dr. Cevallos, Evaluation Team Chair, will conduct a preliminary visit on October 15-16, 2009 He will meet with key constituents including the Steering Committee, the President, Faculty and Staff, and the Board of Trustees

The Self-Study 2010 Team Visit Approximately seven to eight peers will make up the self-study evaluation team Members come from peer institutions and have diverse backgrounds and expertise A final list of Evaluation Team Members names and areas of expertise will be provided on the self-study website once the team membership is finalized
