Olympic Torch Competition Don’t forget to design your Olympic torch. Entries in school by Tuesday 7 th June. Photos Some families have requested restrictions on photos of their children. Some of the Rio sports activities will be photographed. To prevent particular children featuring in photos against your wishes we’ll ask these children to wear a distinctive wristband and the onus will then be on those taking pictures to avoid children with wristbands. (This is the practice adopted in many other sports competitions locally.) Rio Week On Monday 20 th June Wansdyke will be joining up with other Devizes area schools in an exciting celebration of the Rio Olympics. During the week of June 20 th there will be a whole host of sporting activities taking place in schools and other local venues. Everyone will have at least one opportunity to participate in something special. There are nine schools involved, so its going to be a busy week! On Friday June 24 th all schools will be coming together for a joint celebration. That’s quite a big event! Early next term we’ll provide details of the activity or activities that your child is able to take part in. What You Need To Do After half term please keep an eye out for letters detailing the activities your child is involved in. You will need to return a slip confirming that you’re happy for your child to take part. We don’t want anyone to miss an event because we haven’t had the relevant permission. A few activities start or finish outside the normal school day. If this applies please make sure your child is in school, or collected, at the right time. Most activities need normal P.E. kit, though some need something a bit different. Please ensure your child has what’s required on the right day. Helping it Happen We’re going to need your assistance please to transport and supervise children. If you’re able to contribute in this way please email the school – admin@Wansdyke.wilts.sch.uk. We’d be especially pleased if you’re able to transport children by car. You’d need to complete a couple of forms to confirm that everything’s in place for you to do this, but we’ll help you do that, of course. Thank you in advance to everyone who’s able to help. Can parents watch? We’re sorry, but the only way you’ll be able to watch the Rio activities is if you’re able to help with their supervision. The organisers have stated that there’s simply neither space nor facilities for adults to spectate at any of the venues. Sports Day I am sure you will agree, this years sports day was a resounding success! Even the weather was kind to us. The children were competitive but showed great team work too. Well done everybody!
