1 I DON’T LIKE MONDAYS FOCUS: To practise the present simple and vocabulary related to routines. MATERIALS: Teacher: PowerPoint presentation using computer and video projector. Students: notebook to write the story. TIME: 30 minutes. PROCEDURE: Students are shown the five strips, one by one. Individually they write the story using the linkers given. This idea was adapted from Paul Seligson’s Helping Students to Speak, Richmond 1997. FOLLOW UP: Once the story is written and checked, they ask and answer questions about it in pairs. VARIATION: Repeat the procedure in the past or future when you present the past simple (Last Monday Skinny got up...) or the going to future (Next Monday Skinny is going to get up...).
