7. How do we know which one to use? When we learn vocabulary nouns, they are taught with the definite article. It is important to learn these with the words. Definite article = the = el, la, los, las

8. Gender and number of nouns The article also tells us the gender and number of the noun. In Spanish, each noun has a gender. It is either masculine or feminine. When writing and speaking, we always want to agree with gender and number.
