Status of Gas Barrack(SPS) and Exhaust JAILLET David EN/EA/CT

Summary 1 Status of Gas Barrack History Gas buildings and EA Status Resume 2 Status of Exhaust (Experimentale area). Current Exhaust lines New Exhaust lines.

The gas Barrack have been created, to supply in Neutral/ flammable gas the Experimental areas and beam lines. This allows to group all competence and the safety aspects needed in a same building. Team with training Storage of gas bottles Building equiped with the safety equipment associated(Atex,Gas detection…) History

Gas Barrack (With Flammable Gas)  Experimental area 193 AD-experiments 157 East hall-experiments like CLOUD and test beam users 904 CMS test area 908 North area, experiments in the EHN2 907 North area, experiments in the EHN1 and test beam users 909 North area, experiments in the EHN1 and test beam users 920 North area, experiments in the ECN3

Quantity of flammable Gas Used Currently use, but can evolve.(Users request)

Status Old Equipment: Rack of gas supply, not adapted Leakage Partly ATEX Not entirely confined(908,920..) Opération to purge (Flexible pipe) Purge of SF6 and CF4 Inside the building

Status Purge of the supply line before the commissioning of user with flammable gas Not Safe Patch panel Exhaust: Temporary ATEX area Flexible for purge the air inside the supply gas pipe. Temporary ATEX area Transition between inside/outside of the building

Status Service: CV équipment: Gas Extraction  Old ATEX norme Not in good condition  In waiting of CV Report Opération not adapted (In case of shutdown of the ventilation  The gas supply is always open and the détection cannot detect effectively) Heating of building no ATEX (In normal condition, the Gas run in closed circuit inside the gas building/In Hight speed or gas detection the heating is by- passed, the air flow go outside). Gas Detection: Completion of the renovation Operation with CV (See point above)

Status Infrastructure Electrical installation  Ex Electrical report of Bt.909 EDMS1564672EDMS1564672 Water leak from the roof  Degradation of equipment(Rust) Fire resistance  Waiting of the SMB report(Component of the building) Storage of different gas in a same room with no concrete separation  Flammable gas/GHG in case of fire this can produce a toxic and corrosive smoke C2H2F4 Greenhouse gases Flammable Gas

Resume The gas barrack are useful for gather all the component necessary for supply in gas the experimental areas and them users. But this buildings are old,and for the moment not entirely adapted to respond of their function. More and more of the gas barack are returned to service or have increased their storage of gas. This is the time to upgrade the gas barrack: Time and resource.

Status of Exhaust (EA) The barrack provide gas for the experimentale area/users but some of these gas have to be evacuated outside of this building. The pipes are old,not identified, with a multiples connections.

Status of Exhaust (EA) Not identified  The persons working at proximity, ignores their existence(Ex: Inside ECN3 pipe cut by the Overhead crane)

Status of Exhaust (EA) Current Exhaust Many connection (Mixing of old/new) Not correctly localised Not labeled/Identified Not grounded. Grounded of Patch panel

Status of Exhaust (EA) New Exhaust (N61/GIF++/NA62/H4) Relocated in a safe place Pipe welded (No multiple connection) Identified/Labeled Grounded Old pipe Should be dismantle NA61 H2 Exhaust

Status of Exhaust (EA) Résume Some Exhaust are in court of update, but there are still who should be upgraded or created. How to proceed for the other gases?(GHG/CO2…) The same job should be realised for the pipes between the gas cage and the beam area

Thank You
