2. Introduction to ICT  ICT is a core subject in Mount Grace school, which means you will study it right the way through until Year 11  You will have one lesson of ICT every week  You will be assessed by:  Observation during the lesson by your teacher  Completion of tasks in Booklet  Final task for End of unit level

3. The network  You should have already been given your username and password to log in to the school network – Try logging in now!  Remote Access – you can log in to your user area from home, using the internet.  VLE – you can access material for all your subjects on the VLE, this is also accessed through the Mount Grace School website.  Homework will be loaded on the Mount Grace website, so check regularly for those

4. Presentation matters  You will not always be reminded of this, but it matters and counts in ICT, just like in any other subject.  Keep your booklet neat and tidy  Do not graffiti your booklet  Always add a Header and Footer to your work (when using the computer)  Stick to using Times New Roman or Arial Font styles and Font size 12, when writing in documents (unless you need to change this for your audience)

5. Introduction to the Unit  The first unit in ICT will be on Online Safety. You will cover:  How to stay safe on the Internet  Cyber Bullying  Health and Safety  Data Protection Act

6. Lesson Objectives  To think about the implications of using the internet.  To introduce the concept of remaining safe when using the internet.

7. Starter – Class discussion  What can you use the internet for?  What can go wrong when using the internet?

8. Learning Activity  Complete the Mind Map, in booklet on What can go wrong if you use the internet for different things.

9. Plenary - Assessment  What is the first unit about in ICT?  What can go wrong if you use the internet for downloading attachments?
