6 Highlights SBA had record-setting levels for small business lending with $23.5 billion dollars through our 7(a) loan program alone. This represents a 22 percent increase in the number of loan approvals – and a 23 percent increase in their dollar value. SBA helped the federal government award the highest percentage -24.99 percent - of contracting dollars to small businesses in history, totaling $91 billion dollars in the last year alone, AND we broke records for women and socially or economically disadvantaged communities. SBA counseling centers have served more than 1.4 million businesses in the last fiscal year, providing high-quality business advice. 6

8 Contracting Small Business Prime Contracting Achievement (%) Goal Small Business Prime Contracting Achievement ($, Billions) The federal government surpassed its 23 percent small business procurement goal for the third year in a row, awarding an all-time high of 25.75 percent, or $90.7 billion, in federal contracts to small businesses. These contracting funds support more than 537,000 jobs and have a significant impact on job creation, innovation, and growth in communities throughout the country. 8

9 Contracting In FY15, 5.05 percent or $17.8 billion of all federal small business eligible contracting dollars were awarded to WOSBs, the first time this specific benchmark has ever been reached. For the 4 th consecutive year, the federal government exceeded the goal for SDVOSBs, achieving 3.93 percent or $13.8 billion of all federal small business eligible contracting dollars. SDBs received 10.06 percent or $35.4 billion of all small business eligible contracting dollars, the highest percentage in history. 10 Contracting Federal contract dollars awarded to Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDB) also reached historic highs. SDBs received 10.06 percent or $35.4 billion of all small business eligible contracting dollars, the highest percentage in history. 14 Capital SBA increased 7(a) lending to three key underserved market groups in FY2015 – $3.10 billion to Women Owned Businesses 129% increase from FY2009 – $1.23 billion to Veteran Owned Businesses 172% increase from FY2009 – $6.81 billion to Minority Owned Businesses 175% increase from FY2009 Additionally, in FY2015 SBA’s 7(a) program provided: – $1.25 billion to small business exporters – $7.94 billion to new business start- ups 7(a) Loans to Women Owned Businesses (50%+) 7(a) Loans to Veteran Owned Businesses 7(a) Loans to Minority Owned Businesses 14

15 15 Fiscal Year 2015 was one of major achievements. The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Connecticut District Office supported loans for over $287 million dollars through its three main loan programs: the 7(a) Loan Guaranty Program, the Certified Development Company/504 Loan Program and the Micro-Loan Program. Additionally, over 37,800 clients were counseled and trained by the SBA and our resource partners – SCORE, the Connecticut Small Business Development Center, and our Women’s Business Centers in Hartford, Derby, and Stamford.
