5  Built by Britain and France on Egypt's land.  Britain used the canal as a passageway to India.  France used it to get to Vietnam faster. Egypt benefited by the canal because it was a large influx of water, something that was scarce in Egypt.

6  The canal connects the Red Sea with the Mediterranean Sea. Mostly single laned, with some areas of clearing for passing (pictured above)

7  During WW1 they were part of the allies and they sided with Britain. Allowed Britain to station troops before they were deployed to the eastern front.  They did this in order to get out of Ottoman Empire rule.

8  They should get complete independence over time and obtain it gradually.  They must do it over time because they have been taken over by so many countries.  They should adapt a western type of government because no government was present at the time.

9  After the war in the 1920’s, Muhammad Naguib became the first president of Egypt.  He resisted Muhammad Ali who was the ottoman ruler of Egypt still.

10  In 1952, Naguib and Gamal Abdel Nasser lead the Egyptian revolution of 1952.  Nasser became the second official president of Egypt.  Nasser died in 1970.

11 Today the Egyptian people are having a revolution to over throw the 30 year rule of Hosni Mubarak
