3 DAILY SCHEDULE

4 LUNCH  Point of Service (POS) system in the cafeteria.  Student’s ID number is their PIN number.  Will receive an envelope when funds are low.  Snacks on a cart M,W, F  Ice cream available T-TH  PLEASE make sure your child knows what is available to order if they are buying that day.

5 SPECIAL CLASS SCHEDULE  Integrated Arts Monday from 1:15pm-2:15pm  Physical Education Tuesday from 1:00pm-1:45pm  Library Wednesday from 1:00pm-1:45pm  Art Thursday from 1:00pm-1:45pm  Music Friday from 1:00pm-1:45pm  Lunch is at 11:15am daily and recess follows from 11:45am-12:15pm.  Please watch the weather and dress accordingly to be outside

6 CLASS RULES/BEHAVIOR “SHOOT FOR THE STARS”  Please discuss our class rules with your child  The contract should be signed and returned  Our Paw Print program is a positive incentive for group behavior

7 CURRICULUM  Curriculum Reviews can be found on North Allegheny’s website under Academics- Elementary for all subject areas  Curriculum Reviews are also on the Franklin websites  Detailed English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, Social Studies, and Anti-Bullying content is on my website

8 ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS  High Frequency Word Lists  Anthology Reading/Guided Reading groups  Robust vocabulary  Sticker Word Books- Only Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning on September 15 th  Spelling Tests and Reading Comprehension tests are given on Fridays for each lesson  D’Nealian Handwriting – letters and numbers

9 PIZZA HUT BOOK-IT PROGRAM  Required for extra reading/writing/comprehension practice  Four books per month with one report Write in complete sentences Neatness counts Spend some time on this activity  Student will earn the monthly certificate if assignment is handed in on or before the last day of the month  Reward at the end of the year for participating every month

10 MATH  Chapter Tests and Unit Tests  Rocket Math Basic Facts begins the third nine weeks  Homework nightly  Practice side required/challenge side optional  Make sure that you review the page and the directions are clear in order for the page to completed correctly

14 SURVIVAL TIPS CONTINUED  Illness- Fever free 24 hours please! If your child doesn’t feel well, please keep at home.  Mark clothing and personal items with child’s name  Birthdays- District Wellness Policy- no edible treats  Birthday Reader- parent(s) come in and read a favorite story and share information about your child.  Scholastic Reading Club Online access code 1US71/ order and pay online Check made out to Scholastic Reading Club

15 FRANKLIN PFA  PLEASE JOIN  Field trip funding  Purchase many items for your child/school  School Directory  Box Tops- $1500.00 last year  Labels for Education – many supplies were acquired  KidStuff Books- return book or payment promptly

16 ODDS AND ENDS  Cog-AT (Cognitive Ability Test) testing for first graders- November 9-12  Fall Conference sign-up sheet November 2, 2015 12:00-7:45 November 3, 2015 8:00-3:45  Conferences can be scheduled any time during the year, as well.  Parent Volunteers- indicate day/time availability  Fill out email and cell phone sheet  Expertise Speaker sign-up (profession/holidays/etc.
